As a lover of Forest Gump this indian version is a masterpiece
Even that Forest Gump is in my top 5 list of my favorites movie ever, I found this one incredibly well made. Everything was perfect from the character to the scenario.

The hero of the movie is really brillant, I'm not use to Indian movies ( Bollywood) and from this one I can judge that the quality of indian cinema is very high.

I appreciate the connection with historical event, the wisdom that the story bears on tolerance.

I would have loved a happier ending, I was hoping for that from the Indian version.

The film is worth watching, I find the comments and ratings unfairly inflicted on this very beautiful film which moved me to tears.

    An interesting adaptation
I'll be honest. I was ready to thrash this movie through hell, back and through hell again. Because for me there is only one Forrest Gump and this felt like a shameless copycat.

But then I have decided to give this movie a chance and watch it. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it will be, as it must be.

It is a copy of Forrest Gump from the start to the end with changes to fit the location, traditions and locations where the movie is taking place. So in terms of originality it's average.

But it still a nice story about a simple man that is somehow going smoothly through his life and all of its ups and downs and all the important historical events of his country. So as I mentioned before it is a Forrest Gump copy.

But that's where some problems start. Forrest Gump was a man of low inteligence but Laal Singh is downright dumb to the point where it feels annoying. Also Indian songs that are part of movies from this country are for non Indian viewer boring.

So for me it's a solid average. It's not great but not bad either. And despite all of that...it is worth to watch this movie at least once.

    Watched this with low expectations
I was left blown away coming into this movie with low expectations and some Hollywood snobbery about it being another Bollywood rip off, either it's music or movie material, snobbery snobbery.

But when a remake is made with so much artistic abilility and love it's amazing how 3 hours of your life can just run past on a flash. It was a great experience and brought some human issues to the surface as did the original.

After watching this masterpiece I am now convinced that dirty tricks were at work to destroy this movie. It as plain as day that this is a precious gem of a movie which deserves a special place in Bollywood history.

It makes me wonder what is going on in India for this to be a flop.

Good Movie - Slow but Worth Watching
A good movie. I loved the acting by Amir Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Surely it is slow and long but it takes time to build the character.

This movie does standout among 2022 Indian movie.

Is it the best Amir Khan movie? Nops but he always puts good effort in his movies. Should you miss this one? Nops! It is a beautiful one. You will like it.

I can also feel why some users are not impressed because it touches the religious and nationalism angle which is sensitive for some and under the current Indian gov. This is quiet expected.

So, forget about the bad review and watch it. Also don't compare it with Forrest Grump or PK movie.

Unnecessarily overacting, controversial issues and Punjabi accent 😂.
This movie could have been better without Amir khan's unnecessary trying to speak Punjabi. Too many plots to show he is genius. It's just another version ok PK. This movie involves around too many controversial issues, which were unnecessary in the movie. Like getting Army training , Lal Krishna Advani Rath yarta , PM murder. Couldn't understand what was the need of all Such issues in the movie.

No one needs to compare it with the original one, but main spoiler of the movie is Amir khans acting where he try to be innocent by speaking but he could have spoken less and could have been sone much better like his child artist did.

My opinion is only as an viewer a person who wants to see movie get related to it get connected, which I was unable to do in this movie.

    Thanks.

Watch the movie you will not regret
Although an ardent admirer of Amir Khan movies, I almost missed watching this as was discouraged due to low ratings and so much bad publicity surrounding this movie.

Finally on someone urging watched this... Frankly found it to be a very well made movie, engrossing and entertaining.

Amir Khan managed to bring all emotions out as his story progressed. There are not many characters, his story is all we have have along with supporting Kareena Kapoor's role.

Watched in one sitting which is otherwise difficult for me.

The story line is well known as based on the famous movie Forest Gump but I tried not to compare.

Don't Know Why People Disliked The Movie So Much
I think the movie was great! I had read and heard a couple of reviews where someone said that the tonality that Aamir Khan used for the character was coming across as pretense or stupid, however, I didn't find that to be the case at all.

The film captures multiple events from the 80s, 90s beautifully while knitting together a great story of the protagonist. I found the roles of Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan fitting together perfectly and the movie is able to hit the emotional notes that it intends to hit.

I am really sad that the movie was so under appreciated.. This just goes to show how mainstream opinions about any piece of art can be so misleading. This is the kind of movie that becomes a cult classic later. I hope it does!
