Outstanding performance
This movie is really heart wrenching. It shows the plight of se* workers in Indian society and thier miserable conditions, on how they are mistreated and no one respects their profession.
They are many instances in the movie which will make you emotional,tears flew from my eyes when she sacrificed her love and how her own lover sold her to the brothel , how she was boycotted by her own family , this is really a must watch Ignore the negative reviews I guess they are rating without watching the film , there's no way it deserve a rating of less than 7 or 8 according to standards of Indian film rating. - vidhisaparmar - 2 July 2023
Fabulous movie.
The film is very nicely made by the director.
The story written by the writer is awesome.
The dialogues were very nicely written.
Sometime movie goes in boring direction, especially in the middle, and interval part goes in lower way.
But then at the time of climax it was really very entertaining.
Every character were so expertise except at some plot.
Sanjay Lila Bhanushali actually made this film very clear, real, not much fake or wrong things, but everything serve to the audience was real. He made it really very nicely.
Regarding to the songs related to the navratri Sanjay Lila Bhansali prove the movie a real 'Kathiyawad' plot, and he make us sure that he is real kathiyawadi. - nick_demonlover - 21 January 2023
What a movie!
This was my first Bollywood movie in probably last 4..5 years. These days I don't find they are worth spending any time and money on, but I stumbled upon this somewhere, watched the trailer and wanted to give it a try. Man oh man, I wasn't disappointed. I loved every moments of it. The script, the characters, direction and acting, songs I don't care much; less the better. Dialogues are on point and gave me goosebumps more than once. Alia was superb, Ajay excelled in his cameo, and so did others I'm the one who always respects woman but I will never disrespect any women in any profession, Period! What a message. Amazing movie. Movie was quite moving
Very beautifully narrated. Great screenplay, dialogues and cinematography. I'm not a fan of Alia Bhatt but she gained my respect. Movie keeps the audience engaged and shows people the other side of the society. They movie is extremely under-rated! Both speeches; cafe and azad maidan were very powerful and though provoking. Ajay Devgan's role in the movie was concise and beautiful. Very challenging and Alia did great and I can't stress this enough. We need more movies like this from Bollywood. Another master piece from Sanjay Leela Bansali. Its true that you can tell a movie is a masterpiece with just a few visuals. - vishalrinwa - 12 August 2022

Gangubai Kathiawadi i am sure i cant tell everything i loved about this film because i loved every second. Wow what a peice of art this is how can this man keep making classics without any distractions i think this is my most of sanjay leela bhansali. I can never imagine how come her picturised alia to play gangubai how did he even see it no one before seeing the film would have felt right but after watching you can never even have a glance of anyother leading lady here. Wow Alia is something else i knew she is a beautiful performer but here she has just gobsmacked everyone with her performance i dint expect this much from alia and now i am left speechless every frame is aesthetic with its own beauty and she just lives as gangubai the only wish i had was even gangubai was alive she would have felt the best because sanjay and alia just homaged every scene for her being a sensitive topic to handle sanjay leaves us with a heavy heart about what kamathipuram is. Starting from the entry shot of alia i think this is the best heroin entry of indian cinema she has closeups before revealing the face which is always a hero material after this built up alia appers in front of us and slowly makes us forget the alia she is and makes us belive she is gangubai. I had some best moments in the film where alia goes on a drive in her car with a young adult and the way it was filmed and re reocorded with a beautiful number was just stunning alia express every emotion there with so much ease she shows the uncertainity with just her eyes she wants to be a girl girl thing but life has not treated her well for being a male admirer this is the emotion and everyone i bet everyone watching can feel what she feels And a beautiful scene which has a commercial mix but stunning is when alia takes a bunch of children from brothel to a school to admit them and a dailouge she leaves at the end is the most sensible dialouge of the film. My most fav among the fav is the phone conversion between gangu and her mother and the 30 second element in the screenplay will just break your heart. Ok i dont wanna spoil for people who are reading before the watch. All i can say is unfortunately alia will have a very busy schedule for award functions being a newly married she has to plan i am sure she deserves every single award which is given in cinema for a female yes she was everythjng and represented every women and thier pain. A film which gave a emotional attachement for a brothel and i am now left with a huge huge respect for the actual "GANGUBAI". To end everycinema fan needs to thank sanjay leela bhansali for giving us this platter of a film which had every emotion with top notch perfection and the only revert i have now is i missed this is theaters but ya people who did a mistake by skipping theaters no issue we can console ourself by watching this gem now streaming in netflix.
