I guess friendship is magic is irrelevant
Generation 5 had such potential to build off the show that so many loved, but instead we get a generation where all types of ponies are divided. We could have had flurry heart, little cheese, the cmc's, big mac's kids, the cake twins, ect.....instead we get all new characters with no ties to the characters we love. Everyone is divided and terrified of all other pony types, making me wonder where are the windego's. We also don't see discord who can't die , so where did he go.

All the town names have been changed, there is no castle, everfree forest, sugar cube corner, ect.....we also have no princess that rule over things, instead we get queen haven of the Pegasus and her two daughters pip and zip.

The main 5 of the story are trying to find the unity crystals from each type of pony to bring everyone back together. Unity crystals that we have never heard of before.

Then you have the most ridiculous stuff yet ponies using cell phones and social media. This show was a massive failure.

    Good enough
This movie was intended for children, so not my age. But I used to enjoy the mlp series, it was very sweet.

Now the story seems a bit weird to be honest. And it doesn't work in well with the series even though they keep mentioning the characters from it. The history has supposedly changed to make every other group the villain. But as we know from Twilights extensive library, there were books on everything. So it doesn't make sense that everyone just goes along with it.

I also don't love this animation style, much prefer the 2D but that's just a preference.

Refreshing and Sweet Take On an Important Message
It's so difficult to get our children to understand how fear causes divisions in society, which leads to anger and violence. In this turbulent time, it is refreshing to see this franchise tackle this problem and resolve it lovingly. This movie is a beautiful and fun way of showing children how intolerance happens, and that forgiveness and friendship between diverse people is the true MAGIC, which leads to happy more fulfilling lives for everyone.

I'm truly grateful for this movie. MLP needed a new group of ponies which actually engender desirable qualities. As many of the ponies in the series suffer from perpetual rudeness or mental breakdowns on the regular.

The voice acting is top-notch, the animation is stunning, the music is catchy, and the content is solid. It is a gem! You can truly adore this movie, no matter if your 4 or 40.
