    Good action film
This is a good action film with a few goofs.butvstill enjoyable, slow burner and predictable.the main character is good actor and believable.

Once the action starts it starts to go very bad,I'm not sure if the group was tipped off or the German police go around in big groups. But the escape was exciting.and patching each other up.

But the second attempt on him was ludicrous,if that many men with machines started shooting in any city in Europe there would be hundreds of armed police there in minutes,it was a mad way to kill anybody exact opposite of what ex marines would do.

But even with that nonsense I enjoyed the film.

Only good thing is Chris Pine.
Great title. Great actor who is really good at this role. Plot is silly and doesn't make sense. They could have done so much. I didn't see the end. These days I'am not wasting my time with duds. I'd rather watch re runs of good movies. The four star rating I gave for chris being in it. Sorry chris you need to pick better ... really slow to start too. Oh one other thing I'am not sure who their military advisors are but they are good. The application of military protocol, drill and uniform is good. Not sure if he would be discharged and loose all his being it's and pension that for his first offence.

    Rated a bit low here
Rated as 5.8 here. It's not a blockbuster 10 for sure, but I thought it was better than a 5 or a 6, Sutherland just really walked through a couple of times and that was it. Chris Pine carried this movie. Had he not done that this movie wouldn't have made it.

The main character's discharge was not realistic as it doesn't happen that fast. If he was discharged honorably he still receives his pension and benefits since he didn't face a court martial . And a shoot out on the streets of Berlin?!?! That just wouldn't happen as the German police would be all over it.

No, Chris Pine carried this movie in spite of some unrealistic parts in the script.

    Awful, on its own terms
This is a film, which is bad on some so many levels, it's difficult to convey them all.

It apes the Jason Bourne movies. I liked the Jason Bourne films - I've seen several of the Jason Bourne films - this is no Jason Bourne film.

What's with Chris Pine's knee in this movie? He goes from limping, to crawling, to sprinting, to climbing, to any number of other inconsistent ways of working with that knee. While the knee is infected, abcesed.

The scene in the aqueduct is not credible, not believable, ridiculous. Chris Pine is climbing the sheer walls of the aqueduct, racing down the riverbank, (again on that knee!) while 10 special forces types are shooting at him with automatic weapons, and receives not a scratch.

The motivation of each and every character is simply missing in action. The scene at the top of the parking garage, where Pine is crying, his buddy is saying it's because I'm supporting a family, but then decides he's going to go all in on attacking Kiefer Sutherland's character With a pistol.

Segue to the ending: the compound that Kiefer Sutherland is maintaining has three tough guys out front, but no others, at all. In a previous scene, they were seem to be dozens moving back-and-forth.

Chris Pines' buddy seems intent on getting himself killed. Jumps out from behind the car full profile, gets shot, doesn't retreat behind the car, instead continues to stand there to be shot again and again.

No one in that house seems to hear about anything that's going on anywhere else in the house, including, without limitation, automatic, gunfire, screeching cars, dying people!

Awful movie. Badly made. Not the talent.

    Decent movie with useless ending
Several loose ends in the end.... like they ran out of money to film a proper ending.

Otherwise decent movie, the ending turned it into a waste of 90 minutes.

I'm messaging Chris Pine to get back this time on my life.

So many things go wrong, editing, editing, editing!
First, Chris Pine turns in an elevated performance as a son of a Marine born and bred to follow in his father's footsteps.

The rest of the acting is formulaic, but it isn't bad either, what is bad is THE EDITING in this $50,000,000 film along with the need of a much stronger score.

Let's get this out of the way, and this is not a spoiler.

There is this scene where Pine's character is working on his roof in the middle of the night. His wife confronts him over his odd behavior and when he steps down to talk to her something goes VERY WRONG with the edit. It JUMPS OUT like a "WTF just happened?" I took film in school and my knuckles were rapped for just that kind of mistake in my first class, so I'm a little salty that it made it into a "Hollywood" final cut.

But the editing problems were not isolated there.

First off, as EVERYONE else here points out, the first thirty minutes feels like an hour as NOTHING happens in this "action" film. You'd think they would have snuck in even a flashback with some "action" in it or something. This wasn't some art film, and making it boring isn't going to convince anyone it is.

With some editing, you really could make a good movie just with what's up there, providing you added some more music and exposition.

PARTS of the location action sequences were well done, although the bad guys were stereotypically terrible shots at times.

To wrap things up, the plot is the SAME as so many other 'mercenary' films that have been cranked out, many of them based upon true stories, unlike this one. If you have something else to watch esp with company - watch THAT.
