Black cast with no slavery or Gangster Tales
    He Harder they Fall

Jeymes Samuel, seals brother, directoral debut was pretty dope. The harder they fall is a Star studded roster (think, current 2023 san francisco 49ers) about a western; but, the take is, that it contains an mostly black cast. This, in itself, makes me love the film.. it doesn't play on to the fact that the white man is an antagonist; it isn't based off of slavery; and it isn't a film based in the hood on drugs/gangs. Seeing black actors/actresses in a new creative light in itself is immaculate. The film is written pretty well; we learn of the main characters motivations early on. The characters themselves arent really rounded, but they all do particularly well in entertaining the audience. I don't believe this film was created to have deep, evolving characters. Instead, its exactly what it sells itself as: a western. A revenge flick. And it does well at that. Theres alot of symbolism on religion and satanism (scenes with crosses or scenes with goats in satanic symbols). Theres also a twist at the end the involves a shift in the characters directions that involve religion.

Film is a really fun time. Jonathon Majors is cool as ever. Lakieth is riveting, and potentially plays one of the best characters in the film as cherokee film (most well rounded). Idris elba plays a great antagonist, appearing as this stout, powerful, "little words to be said, but staggering " figure. Regina King is quippy. Film has some dramatization in its actions scenes that play an ode to kill bill/django with its use of blood squirting. The soundtrack is really cool. Theres some cool hints in the film like the "C A Boseman" chadwick boseman homage on the side of the train as lakeith and regina are walking.

The characters and sets where amazing
Another thing is the soundtrack in this movie really reminds me of old western movies but with a modern sound. It greatly set the mood for scenes. The sets looked like what you would see in a cheaply made movie but I think that was on purpose. Because when the went into a "white" town all the buildings where white. When they were in a "colored" town it was a bunch of different colors. This makes me believe that the movie sets looked cheap on purpose.

The cinematography was amazing really made me feel things. Loved the characters they had their own personalities and the acting was great.

The writing was also good. The story moved quick but not too fast. For a 2hour movie it sure didn't feel like it. It may just be me but I like quick storytelling. The plot twist's kept me on the edge of my chair. It also has me yelling at the characters like "how could you do that" and "what a b****".

Personally I love western movies. And I surely love this one. If you like western it's for you.

Only thing I would criticize is wish we had some more backstory on loves gang. Otherwise great movie. :)

Hard to Watch - Too Many Distracting and Annoying Characters
The opening scene was great, and so was the second scene at the chapel so I had high hopes for this movie. The film had some good components such as the edgy cinematography and well thought out direction. Although not from the era of the film as some reviewers have already stated, the soundtrack was great and suited the fun feel of the film. Set design and costumes were wonderful and the overall visual components were great.

The bad parts of the film made it unwatchable though. Without dishing out any spoilers here, it is a typical Netflix style film - a great cast of actors, great budget, and the notorious abysmal Netflix execution. The characters make terrible choices to keep the story moving and it is difficult to feel any emotion for any of them with the unoriginal dialogue adding insult to injury. The storyline was drawn out and overall the movie would have been better with a shorter runtime.

The story also had too many secondary characters, and struggled to develop any of them enough to engage the viewer. I cannot help but think that removing some of these distracting secondary roles and focusing on the main protagonist and antagonist would have resulted in better character development and a more engrossing narrative. The most disappointing thing for me was Idris Elba's character was not only underdeveloped but underutilized in this film. His magnetic screen presence was not enough to save the story where in many scenes he is just made to sit or stand there - not saying a word - staring at the other characters.

I really wanted to enjoy this film however, felt frustration more than anything at what could have been and was not.

The worst typical Netflix movie Ii have watched yet
No real story line, nor any comedy. Nothing about the movie makes it worth watching. Soundtracks also do not match the movie at all.
