    Rather gut wrenching
The headline above is, in the case of this incredible film, in a rather litetal sense. This is indeed one of the more violent and unforgivingly dark films this reviewer has yet to see - and another testament of the uncensored capabilities of French cinema.

The actors all do an incredible job, utilizing a visual language with sparse dialogue, conveying raw, mature and explicit violence - very career defining and artistic, and accompined by a stellar script for the ages, encompassing lots of splendid drama and dark comedy. Very gruesome and uncensored, rather frightening, and ever tragic.

The cinematography, cutting and editing is explicitly incredible, very beautifully put together indeed, and accompined the rawness of the film.

Overall, one I would highly recommend for any lover of film, though of course, to somewhat of an acquired taste!

    Car metal fetish film
The title says it right here.

Jesus Christ, I just couldn't bear watching almost two hours of a person killing others for the sake of some disgusting paraphernalia fetish and I kept convincing myself that it would get better. One day as a little girl, she has a car crash and has a titanium plate and that titanium plate automatically gives her a fetish for the machines of death that almost killed her, and soon would eventually lead her to her own little psychopathic stints as your friendly neighbourhood serial killer, then becoming knocked up with a car, and pretending to be a missing boy just so she could run away from the police and then getting it on with his dad. It's painful to watch and no way would I ever watch this exception to great modern cinema in any way again. Just no.

My question is what was the director on when she wrote it?

    Original but ugly
Titane, that is a challenging mixture of elements, is not a Schwarzenegger blockbuster.

By reading a variety of reviews you will get a choice of interpretations how to unfold the film. I don't know if this movie was meant to be a terror or symbolic movie. There are some truths (sexual needs for instance lesbianism and masturbation, and that people getting old) here and there in the plot but it gets hard to watch since there is no beauty, just nightmare. Pain, sadism, masocism, drugs, piercing, car shows, the life of fire brigade (the crew consist of immigrants/refugee looking people contrasted to the french "family"). The daylight cannot be seen much. Director tries to convince spectator the neo-kafkian mess has some logic in it. At least Titane is an attempt to create something uncanny.

Possibly, my opinion is, something is missing, better cast, more meaningful music, some pleasantful or funny details, since the result after the end seems an awful LSD-trip. Funny moments would have balanced movie but also made it look more David Lynch, so director might have reached his purpose.

    Hard to think of spoilers
We rented this movie in a art house site, but never saw the end. The cruelties were a bit too much. Could not dis over a story line. Over the top and boring. Vincent Lyndon is brave to act like hé has to do, like a parodie on an aging rockstar. If it were not a French art house movie, great that they raised the money to make it, it would have been a scandal. Now we know, ah.... the French....yarn. And probably because the critics never had a clue what it was about, neither did we, it won a prize. If you do want to finish it, please note that it is quite depressing. Maybe you could whatch A Clockwork Orange instead.

This movie is quite a ride
I felt all sorts of emotions watching this movie. It's intense, violent, dramatic, heartfelt and even comedic. With all these varying tones, the movie still feels cohesive. It's a very unique and weird story as well which might turn some people off.

It's well directed and edited. The film looks good without being showy about it. The performances are also good.

I've only watched this film once and while I was able to find certain themes I couldn't figure out a single main message of the film. However, rewatching to figure out what all the events mean is something I hope to do, because even if it's not immediately clear what the film is trying to say, it's still very entertaining.

    very violent
Good movie, just be prepared for some unsettling violence. It does serve a purpose though, so it's not gratuitous. Has visceral quality too. Reminds me a little of Martyrs.
