businesss - 1 July 2024 Un-watchable Without doubt, the worst soundtrack/score in the history of cinema renders this film completely un-watchable.
I could only manage watching for 20 minutes before I gave up.
I was reminded of that Family Guy episode with that pastiche they did - "Distracting Trumpet" (!) albeit, in this case - for strings and everything else! However, the truth is - the soundtrack is just so truly, truly awful (not even 'it's so bad it's funny' awful) - it just renders the movie completely un-watchable.
I'm all for a bit of light, easy viewing, fantasy 'froth' and was looking forward to this, just to enjoy as a bit of 'happy nonsense'.. but as I said twenty minutes in is all I could manage, due to, I'll say it again - the worst, most intrusive, soundtrack/score in the history of cinema.
kademan-40962 - 28 June 2024 A kids film for adults IF is a fun, heartfelt adventure of rediscovery, reminding adults why they can't let themselves take growing up as a plain experience. It's also very tonally confused.
The movie starts out with establishing the warped tone with a light-hearted montage turning south as it progresses, and in hindsight captures what the rest of the movie ends up accomplishing. The story is very much a mature one I think only adults will comprehend, and absolutely broke me more than once, covering themes of relevance, what it means to grow up, and keeping in-touch with your childhood. The cast, both physically and vocally present, all do a great job at embodying their characters. The designs of the IFs are ingeniously simple and cartoonish yet amazingly rendered and detailed, and the world is such a great embodiment of a dim light in a dreary setting. John Krasinski seems to flourish in giving simple and original stories with a sense of familiarity to them and this movie is no different, this time feeling like a throwback to the abundantly positive feel-good films of yesteryear.
The problem comes in the tones the movie goes through. It starts off feeling like a pretty fun, lightly mature kids movie, but there's a bit of a shift in the middle of the movie where it undergoes a kind of reveal as to who the real focus of the movie is as it becomes very emotionally deep and vulnerable. It's a good twist, but the movie's very friendly and light humour that's present throughout makes it difficult to really tell who this movie is for. Aside from that, the score can be a little too dominant and overbearing at times also.
Overall, a perplexing subversive experience, perhaps purely made for adults to never forget maybe the most entertaining joy of youth... their imagination.
tvytfk - 25 June 2024 Life will never be the same after this movie I just created imdb account to write the review. Guys, if you didn't cry, you should seek for the help of a psychologist. I have never seen such a great artwork in my life! Thank you forever for this! <3 I have not read any reviews, maybe some people understood it differently or maybe the producer meant something else but this movie for me was about our "inner child" thing. How we forget about it and how we sometimes ignore ourselves. How important is to always be get in touch with our inner child and take care of her/him. The feelings I had while watching this movie was something unexplainable. Thank you again and again and forever!
veto_corlion - 18 June 2024 Lovely & peaceful It should have some more time for the writing to be one of the classics of cinema although it is a nice friendly adorable emotional happy and joyful movie.
It has been so long since i watched a lovely movie & with hilarious casting with no hidden messages or ideas or representations , just a lovely family movie, i thank them for that at the very least.
The IFs characters is not that creative sort of lazy but still fun
although the blot is obvious still kinda nice and with a little bet of weighting it could be much better if they had the time
PS:
I loved the idea of who played Keith the invisible :D.
charliebeech91 - 11 June 2024 Not child friendly Had such high hops for this film. Does use older child topics. Which are a lot arnt answered. Wish I watched it before. Even 14 and above is a push. Nothing like the trailer. Great points but not the film I'm sure many of us were expecting . High teens and get ready for some conversation. Which is good is wasn't expectin.g this from the trailer. Definitely not a young child film.min 14 above note sure I'd take them and there friends. This is a film you'd watch with your family. So disdained has so much to give but the creepy and other characters are a too much. Green lantern was bad but I'm torn now.
