Scotthigginsmre - 10 March 2024 A beautiful movie The 2 stars of the film work beautifully together. The bond they develop throughout the film was wonderful to watch. More than once I had tears either in my eyes or streaming down my cheeks.
It's not perfect but it is still very good and very emotional. There were comedic moments for
sure but I consider more a drama.
Tatum was very impressive and proved he's not just a pretty face. Lulu is amazing and not just a dog. Give it a watch.
I need 600 words? Why, I said everything I needed to say. I can ramble if you want but it won't add value. Concise and to the point. Maybe make it 300 words. 600 achieved!
fnvry - 26 August 2023 Veterans Lives , Portrait as Stray dogs This is a one of a kind Absolute Political-FREE But Veteran Friendly Movie ! ... It's story of U. S. war vets as Lost 'DOG's who're left to die in misery & loneliness ,& all those u may have seen since ww1 movies , ... but this movie happens to be during Wokisim & new era , Channing Tatum plays a great "doggy" character who humps everything & don't know where to go when they get him unleashed ! He's a trained dog but also bites Military police , he's disoriented but somehow sniffs his way & find his path , ... But main issue is : this Movie Bites But Don't Barks !!!! They literally in seconds mocked All progressive movements & phrases but not a single political drifting u would experience from anyone in this movie , the both protagonist characters have their War likelihood heads high up , in fact their diary prises the war : "Give the war a CHANCE " ! While Movie bites people of ALL caltures & backgrounds during it's Set-Up roadTrip style of 70's for some reason in this age also happens to be via a 70's broken American proud vehicle ! It doesn't bark on any Political issues nor even trying to send a war criticism from civilian points toward any government , U REALLY CAN'T TEACH MOVIE DOGS ANY NEW TRICKS ,Can u ?! I give their War a chance but failed short.
r96sk - 21 February 2023 'Dog' won me over 'Dog' won me over by its end.
Across the first half of this film, I wasn't feeling it at all - the whole vibe of the film just felt off, with lead Channing Tatum not really doing anything for me. However, the second half does, in fairness, save it. By the conclusion, I actually felt invested in both characters - quite the turnaround!

jeremy-916-791020 - 22 December 2022 The ads make it look like a cute comedy. It is, but... This isn't one for the kids. While cute and funny, it deals with some seriously fragged up schnitzel. Mental health, PTSD, TBIs, homelessness, grief... all are topics that this film brings up. It can be hard to watch at times, but it's worth it.
Beyond that, it's about healing and growth. It's a journey of two broken souls mending each other. It is about the power of taking a step back and reevaluating your priorities. It's about love and family.
I enjoyed this movie. I laughed, I teared up, and I smiled.
If you can handle the vulgarity and messy humor shared by veterans, if you love dogs, and if you support those who served, this movie is for you.
22 till none.
jackiehedstrom - 13 November 2022 A loving film that makes you think Nothing at all like other dog-movies. This is a drama, with some funny scenes sprinkled in, that talks about the effects serving in war has on the psyche - in humans and dogs. It doesn't go so deep as to depress the viewer, but enough to really make you think about the fate of both soldiers and army dogs.
The movie is well made, and it made me cry two times! People who understand the dog- human bond will melt watching this. And cat-lovers will probably like it too...
And for everyone who is thinking of getting a cute Malinois just like the one in the movie - be aware that they really are power-packed with energy, and your life needs to be all about the dog if you have one like that. I know - I have a Tervueren (the long-haired version), and he is the center of all I do now! But chewing out seats, barking the breath out of whatever - that comes naturally to them, and they do not need to be traumatized in heavy fighting to be very difficult sometimes. And if your response is not very loving, calm and intelligent, you might just mess your dog up yourself. But at the same time no dog is as attached to you as a Belgian Shephard - they love, follow and protect you every step you take. So a good choice to show a dog that did just that and deserves to be repaid with the same, and not just abandoned for being "difficult".
rich-fouts - 17 October 2022 Wonderful film, highly recommend Reid Carolin co-wrote and directed DOG (aka, Lulu), about a veteran tasked with returning an army K9 to the funeral of the dog's former handler, Riley.
People are saying it's more drama than comedy and while I agree I must say this film has more than a handful of belly laughs. Great comedic timing on the part of Tatum Channing who pretty much carries the film given he's in every single scene. And his interaction and constant talking to Lulu is simply wonderful. When Channing figures out how to get a free hotel room, with his canine cohort, well ... I won't spoil it, but what ensures is hilarious. Channing has shown us before that he's a fine dramatic actor, but it's always a treat to see his comedic side.
It's an important film and will hopefully bring awareness to this painful issue: military dogs having suffered from war the same as humans, come back with trauma, where they are often labeled untreatable and therefore put down.
There are actually four Lulu's in the film but hats off to Carolin for his super-competent, skillful direction. I don't know how they possibly made this film; the dogs are incredible.
