    Its just not that good
Well it start well but losing speed in the middle and drop flat in the end , so no its not a good movie, its not even an ok movie its a pretty bad movie, but I give it 4 cause the acting is top clas and for a good start

So people in their reviews are putting knots on them self now to explain this movie, suddenly all are professors in psychologic behavour , they dont even guess what this movie is about, they say this is how it is ,,, some clown even though he was the only one understanding this trash

As soon movies like this comes out people want to rate it high cause its deep hardboiled psychologic trauma and cause of that they rate it high and explain it to the rest of us who dont get it, like babadook movie, same thing

Well I did get this movie, but its doesnt matters , it was not good done, script was not good enough and mostly it was boring and the end was a disaster.

    Nasty just to be Nasty
A good actress & actor. Why did they waste their time making this. They must have had better choices. No director could save it.

The worst film ever. Right up there. One thst I ask, who would want to make it.

The most horrifyong film I have wver seen is Herman " Funny Games". I was hooked & has to see the ending. I swear, I got PTSD, & had flashebacks during the day & nightmares for many weeks. Interestingly, Roth played the heavy in the US English langusge version.

I have gave up after her monologue about her abuse, & part of scene with Roth, the abuser.

I did read a review, explanation, of the end. I do not want 2 waste any more time on this. But I would say the end is her death & descent into madness.

Right up there, one of worse films ever. TerrifyIng just to be Terrifying but using what could be real. Not some alien entity.

It is hard to believe that short, thin, homely Roth could control & captivate a tall, good looking, educated, not mentally ill woman.

And how couLd she belIeve he still had the baby he said he ate. He could have sold a healthy baby boy, so it could be alive somewhere, or he could have killed it. And she did nothing & then feld.

Reminds me of the genre of the Japanese films (emulated by Tarintino) that see how gory & terrifying they can make it.

    Interminable
"Rebecca Hall, we've got a script that requires you to act at all ends of the spectrum. The budget for locations, special effects, script development, etc. All comes to under $1000. We just need you and Tim Roth to put your names to it and we can get this steaming pile of nonsense made... No, there is no real point to the film and nobody will understand it unless they go to the internet to read viewer interpretations, but we'll get away with it by describing the film as 'psychological'... Yes, it only has enough substance for a 10-minute short film, but we'll get you to repeat the same conversations over and over until the audience is so bored that they'll realise that no pay-off could be worth this interminable rubbish. So, are you up for it, Rebecca?"

    Slow-burn bore with no point
At one point, Tom Roth and Rebecca Hall were known for their terrific movies. No more. Nowadays they choose roles in movies that simply put have uninteresting storylines.

Resurrection is a great example for both. Early on, the movie gets your attention. But soon after, the plot is unveiled. At that point you ask, really? That's what this movie is about? Because it's just not interesting. At all.

As the story builds, you can't help wondering ... is that it? They're going to stick with this dumb storyline? Because you're thinking there just HAS to be more to it. But no. It culminates into a hallucinogenic climax that's as absurd as it is pointless.

Then writer/director Andrew Semans, who hasn't brought a single piece of own work to screen since the forgettable "Nancy, Please" ten years ago, tries to inject a twist at the end to leave you wowed. Pffft. Instead it was yet another stupid waste of time by low-budget filmmakers selling to the highest bidder (IFC in this case).

The only redeeming quality is Grace Kaufman who at least gave the film some semblance of fresh air. Hence 2 stars rather than one.

    Powerfull.
This movie was masterfully directed and the cinematography was stunning. The acting was just totally amazing from everyone if the cast.

This is one of the most painful movies I have seen in a good while. You really feel for the protagonist and her issues facing her past as she meets the psychopath that destroyed her teens years and now want to again take control and manipulate her.

Tim Roth plays a convincing psychopath coming back for his prey. He plays this role so convincingly that I was shoting at the screen for multiple time for Rebacca Halls character to kill him. I wanted to see him suffer after all the mentally abuse she went through.

This is definitely on my list for favorite film of the year. It made my cry and few movies ever do.

    5.9/10. Watchable but not recommended
This movie tries to be original, creative and different, and this is a good thing, considering that most of mystery/thriller movies are repetitive and their plot is almost the same. However, originality, brilliance and creativity are rare in today's movies industry, and it's difficult for them to co-exist. RESURRECTION is kinda original but it's not a brilliant movie. I couldn't believe what i was watching in the second half, "events" were not plausible. Whilst, first half was good, interesting and intense.

This movie kept my interest until the ending, hence the 6 stars. Furthermore, Hall and Roth were good, even though Hall was a bit overacting. But i can't rate it higher, because it failed during the second half. I didn't get convinced how a strong, independent woman did what she did. And if she was broken all the way, then how did she manage to be a strong, independent woman at first? Of course, Emotionally abused people can strengthen and heal, but deranged and insane people cannot: They need medication. And this is the reason that this movie is implausible and unbelieavable: Because, during the second half, Rebecca Hall is not just an emotionally abused person, but an insane person.

In conclusion, i have watched many worse movies. At least, this was watchable/interesting until the ending. But i can't recommend it. So many better movies, so little time.

    Very Human Horror
Resurrection is a core theme of the film, but potentially, not in ways you'll expect as you enter.

Be warned, this is an anxiety inducing film as a woman, who ran away from her abuser, tries to come to terms with him coming back and the terrible implications that come with his return.

It's a slow descent that doesn't show it's fullness until the last 30 minutes or so, but that doesn't mean it's not a hard descent all the way through.

Shame, abuse, manipulation, and the horrific ouroboros therein are all put on the main stage, here, and watching it can be both tense and extremely painful from an empathetic sense.

This isn't a film that will please slasher aficionados, or even some "general" horror lovers, but it is a psychological gauntlet of mental anguish and abuse with a final scene that's truly painful in the fullness of its implications.

If what I've written above is of interest to you, or you love the two leads, I think you'll be mostly pleased with this film.

I think it was really well made, well tracked, and well acted, but I'm not sure it's a movie I'd watch again despite how good it was. It was just really painful through its showcase of manipulative, emotional, and physical abuse and the implications.
