Disney can't write realistic comedy or dialogue for children.
    Bear with me here.

But Disney is awful at writing dialogue for anyone under the age of 30. Everything is written and acted like it is being performed in a high school gymnasium by the drama club.

    1. The three young version of the Sanderson sisters - came off as if they were on stage in a middle school/high school play. They weren't "The Sanderson Sisters"... they were three student-actors PLAYING the Sanderson sisters. There is a difference. I don't want to SEE someone acting. You could see they were trying to mimic/imitate/emulate... and line delivery was very HS drama.

    2. The guy that's in EVERY Disney show today that was playing the reverend. He's version of comedy isn't funny. The whole "I'm going to act really mad and serious while saying silly things and being overly dramatic" stopped being funny a long, long time ago.

You know what was great about the Original? The adult townspeople acted serious - it was a drama while the witches were being dramatically comedic. It was the perfect balance of "funny enough that I'm not scared as a child" but serious enough that it was "believable" - it didn't break the viewers immersion in the world like modern Disney does with their hokey acting.

    3. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DO NOT SOUND/TALK/ACT LIKE THAT, DISNEY!!! They always have them being overly cool, over the top, cringey non-relatable dialogue. High school is unrecognizable in Disney content. Why is everything always so bright and fancy, too?

You know what was great about the Original? The kid actors were believable (apart from the bullies that were played up for comedy) but the kids in the classrooms, how max and Allison acted, how the teacher acted... even Dani... they didn't seem like kids ACTING... they seemed like real people experiencing this stuff in real life.

It just isn't good. It is offensively bad. Another Disney money-grab.

    The Witches Are Back...
...witch, witch.. the witches are back! Fantastic sequel to the original. This film does not disappoint the viewer if they are not predisposed to only liking the original film for its sake of nostalgia. This film is fun for all ages, and it doesn't require a person to overthink the spookiness and family entertainment of the Halloween holiday.

In this film the three Sanderson sisters are brought back to life in 2022 (aka 30 years later than Hocus Pocus {original}. The sisters meet two teenage girls who take the Sanderson sisters on a wild goose chase to thwart the sisters from capturing and inhaling the essence of children's souls. Billy returns as the undead mummy, and while Zachary Binks joined his sister in the afterlife in the first movie, another black cat joins the film and after the credit rolls this cat shows us the location of the second Black Flame candle leading us to believe a third Hocus Pocus film could be in the making.

A Long-Awaited Enchantment: Hocus Pocus 2 Mesmerizes with a Perfect Blend of Nostalgia and New Adventures
Hocus Pocus 2 has left me utterly spellbound! This enchanting sequel truly brought back the magic of the original film, with the actresses embodying their characters flawlessly, as if no time has passed at all. The chemistry between them was still on point, reminding us why we fell in love with them in the first place.

The soundtrack of Hocus Pocus 2 was nothing short of beautiful. It stayed true to the original movie's theme while adding new magical elements that elevated the music to even greater heights. The new songs featured in the film were an absolute delight, and the scene where they sang "One Way or Another" on stage was one of the most fun moments throughout the movie.

The comedy in Hocus Pocus 2 had me laughing my eyes out from start to finish. The clever humor and perfectly timed jokes added a lightheartedness that made this movie an absolute joy to watch. It was a fantastic blend of nostalgia and new material that catered to both longtime fans and a new generation, allowing everyone to fall in love with the Sanderson sisters all over again.

As someone who has been eagerly awaiting this sequel for years, Hocus Pocus 2 fulfilled all my nostalgic desires. The film managed to capture the essence of the original while introducing fresh elements that kept me thoroughly engaged. From start to finish, I was transported back to my childhood, relishing in the nostalgia while experiencing the magic anew.

The climax of the movie was simply breathtaking. It had me shedding tears of joy and sorrow as I witnessed the powerful bond between the sisters. Bette Midler's portrayal of her character's realization that power came at the cost of her sisters was nothing short of amazing. Her acting skills truly shone, evoking a rollercoaster of emotions that left a lasting impression.

Hocus Pocus 2 excelled in every aspect, from the cast with the phenomenal established actors and the newly introduced ones, the direction, to the mesmerizing costumes and stunning visual effects. The attention to detail was remarkable, creating a world that was as magical as it was believable.

The only disappointment I had was the decision to release the movie directly on Disney Plus, bypassing the opportunity to experience it on the big screen. The enchantment and grandeur that this film would have possessed in cinemas would have been truly memorable. Nevertheless, this small setback doesn't diminish the brilliance of Hocus Pocus 2.

I'm thrilled to hear that a third movie has been announced, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this enchanting saga. Hocus Pocus 2 has left me hungry for more, and I can't wait to see where the journey takes us next. This film deserves all the praise it receives, and I'm confident that the third installment will continue to captivate audiences with its magic, humor, and heart.

Lastly, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the making of Hocus Pocus 2, both in front of and behind the scenes. Your dedication and passion for this beloved franchise have brought us another extraordinary adventure, taking us on a truly magical journey. Your efforts are deeply appreciated, and we eagerly await what the future holds for this enchanting series.

    Major disappointment is an understatement
I'm a child of the original Hocus Pocus, I saw it in the theater when I was 8 and I loved it. I was so excited to watch this after waiting so long for a sequel, but this really REALLY falls flat.

There is absolutely no one to cheer for, the main character actually comes across as annoying and petulant, no one has a great personality. The opening sequence is completely overacted, it's almost silly. The witches aren't even recognizable from the first, why are they belting out songs like it's a musical? They were so much more wary of the present time in the first movie, this one they're befriending robot vacuums.

They just really missed the mark with this one, there's no real funny lines, the characters fall flat, and just the overall feeling of the movie isn't good. The only redeeming scene is the end with Winifred and her sisters, it was actually touching, but too short. Maybe third time's a charm? I won't hold my breath.

My review of hocus pocus 2
It was fantastic because the witches are funny and they are always riding a broomstick. And the 3 sisters fly up for take-off in the sky. And they land down to someone's house.my favourite part was when the 3 sisters went to the shop to do shopping and buying things to take home with them for purchasing at the aisles. When the 3 witches were opening the make up and opening the lid before they were not paying at the checkouts at the tills before making the purchasing and then the lights at the store came off because the shops were closed and the 3 sisters were witches because unfortunately they started making a mess at the aisle and breaking the shelfs suddenly it came out and it was broken but the shop store owner forgotten to stop the 3 witches to ask to leave the store.

    Just was not fun
Loved the original. Was hokey where it was supposed to be and they kept it simple. This one just seemed all over the place. Felt that them opening it up with the writers blaming their turn to evil on religion and men trying to keep women in their place was a bit too heavy handed. I guess we are supposed to sympathize with the hairbrained thieves of children's souls now that we see some town religious leader tried to make one of them get married to a man she did not like? Can't they just say "yeah these characters are evil in a fun way that you can't really hate" and let us have fun with that? I did think the two young actresses in the main roles were pretty good with what they were given. Also the actor who runs the witches store as well. Just too much to overcome. Too many jokes that seemed strained and derivative. It got painful to watch over the first half but did get a little better at the end.
