After We Fell

    What am doing to myself?
I must be a masochist, because I got myself to the end of the movie...but it took two sittings. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for Hero Fiennes Tiffin's looks and accent. But I also keep hoping Hardin SOMEHOW gets help and improves.

For context about my perspective, I work in mental health. Another review pointed out that one should "RUN" if someone exhibits the traits Hardin does, and I completely agree. His jealousy, pettiness, gaslighting, and anger issues make for a volatile cocktail that absolutely no one should be in a romantic relationship with. If I had a client like Tessa, male or female I would fear for them. Hardin's reactions at the end are the only reasonable reactions he's had the entire time- I was relieved that he finally did something healthy; cry and lean on Tessa for support. It only took the vast majority of 3 movies for him to have a healthy reaction...

Toxic- teaching young women and me to romanticize toxic narcissistic behavior.
These movies are awful. They are horribly written first and foremost. They romanticize extremely toxic behavior. Both of these "children" display anxious attachment styles and desperate horrible insecurities! Is the audience suppose to think this is love and romance?!! It's about a spoiled rich kid who desperately needs therapy! He's a controlling narcissist and young girls are suppose to look up to "Tessa's" character?!! She is severely codependent and continues to take Hardin's abuse and this movie calls it love?!! These books are toxic for today's youth. They should have never been made into a movie series. It's teaching young women that sex and abuse may change a man to love you?!!

It just gets worse and worse...
I loved its 1st film, After (2019), to the extent I even went to find its novels and finished reading all four of them. Then I was disappointed with the 2nd film, After We Collided (2020), although it was still acceptable.

Now, the 3rd film, it's such a total disappointment that it completely serves no justice to the original story in the novels. I also find there is lack of chemistry between the actors/actresses, probably due to the 90% switch out from the original ones. In addition to that, I noticed that Josephine Langford (Tessa) has evolved tremendously in terms of acting, while there's completely no improvement in Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (Hardin) at all. Hardin is supposed to be a dark, mysterious guy with anger management issues. But in this film, all I see is just a childish, spoil brat, who gets angry about every little thing.

Story development is also lacking. In the novel, there is a lot of love-hate tension, unspoken misunderstandings between Tessa and Hardin, which is supposedly what makes the story interesting, but in the film it wasn't given a chance to portray that. They did not allow tensions between them to develop, and they also did not allow romantic moments to develop. Everything tends to happen suddenly out of no where, eg. They suddenly argue, and they suddenly have sex etc., hence making this film look like some cheap erotic film. I feel sorry for Anna Todd.

    Toxic...
Promoting unhealthy, toxic relationships. Attempting to make your significant other jealous in order to hurt them. I only watched this since I had watched the first two, but this is seriously unhealthy relationship that I would advice anyone to leave. Plus this movie is pretty boring like a lot of the other reviews say. The sex scenes were trying too hard and honestly just added too the toxic portion of the relationship ship, fighting all day, but having makeup sex left and right.... Okay.....
