martin85-1 - 29 November 2023 Not worth your time to watch This movie was an extreme disappointment from the beginning. It has a very weak plot and what plot there was was never developed, but rather things "dropped" in and you had to figure it out.
Too much blood and gore, too much unrealistic fighting. Totally unbelievable that 3-4 people can kill a hundred and come out without even a bruise.
And the hero, Kai, despite supposedly having Wu Assassin powers does not seem to use them and continually gets his arse kicked terribly, and finally comes up with some trick move at the end to win the fight. It is totally unrealistic to see people roundhouse-kicked in the head yet sustain no broken bones, teeth, etc. And get right up and go back to fighting.
The fight choreography was extremely poor and typical of this type of movie. The many bad guys are fighting one person and instead of ganging up, each waits his turn to fight. :You can see them waiting in the background and when one goes down, another steps in. Totally unbelievable. Also you can see timing pauses so the hero can get his stuff together and hit him. All have long sweeping swings for their punches, something martial arts persons would never do.
And the boat chase: Nice of the bad guys to come perfectly along side Kai's boat and match speeds so he can hit them with a paddle.
I could go on and on, but don't waste your time on this. It is not worth watching.
specialispuella - 25 August 2022 Oh boy... I really wanted this movie to work, but 15 minutes in it became clear that was wishful thinking.
Bad dialogues, not so stellar acting and superbad editing (no bra in one scene and in the next he's taking the bra of).
Sadly it's an overall mess.
meliahumada - 21 March 2022 Wu assassin? Lu was more impressive... I thought the series was ok, had a lot of good scenes and I liked the characters. The movie is worse. Starts with an off screen major death, I was like what? Kai fights like a regular martial artist, Lu fought better most of the time. How is Kai supposed to be stronger, faster, overall better if he can't even fight someone 1/1 without getting hit multiple times? The people he fights with never stay down, just disappointing. I mainly watched this for Lu and was hoping another actress from the movie would make an appearance, but in vain.
egg_egan - 9 March 2022 All Action Follow-up to Wu Assassins As always, and I don't know why I keep doing it, but I read some reviews for Fistful of Vengeance before first watching Wu Assassins and then this film. Trust me don't be put off the film because of some none action film fans decided to review a film they were never going to enjoy. Wu Assassins wasn't great, I have to agree with that, but it was watchable and at least in watching it first it gave me an understanding of what was going on in the film. However this film is far better than the series and people should not be put off if they did not enjoy the series. Honestly give it a go, it's action packed and fun.
Like I said previously, I always read reviews to see what other people have thought but always end up watching the film whether it has good or bad reviews anyway. I am not saying this film is outstanding, the best action film ever but it is very enjoyable. There is loads and loads of action, so if you are an action junky like me it is a must see. Some of the fight schemes are brutal and to be honest there are so many of them you never get chance to relax before more is coming your way. So glad I watched it. Honestly if you like action, especially that with loads of martial arts in, this is definitely a film for you.
