    An engaging prequel
I started to watch Jujutsu Kaisen recently after the incredible praise the series has gotten, I am still not fully onboard with it but this was a surprisingly good movie!

I just recently started season 2, the story so far doesn't strike me as ground breaking, sure it has some good characters and somehow original content but the overall plot is nothing new.. Adding to this, its very convoluted - the rules of the world seem arbitrary at some points, they try to provide several explanations in regards to the abilities, the limits and the overall lore but I am not convinced, it seems kind of a free for all when it comes to the cursing energy, the curses themselves and the special grades.

The story moves fast, which in most cases is a good thing but when you are not fully involved on the plotline it makes things a bit superficial.

This is where this movie shines for me, at least it provides a bit more context and sense to the series as a whole.

We get to know the past of some of the protagonists and a new character that is briefly mentioned in season 1, and the way it was introduced was actually spot on!

Another great thing about this film speaking from a general perspective is that its actually canon to the story and most importantly is not a repetition of the already existing episodes.

I don't get why other anime's don't do exactly as Jujutsu Kaisen did with this film, it makes way more sense to develop the story instead of just placing existing episodes into the big screen!

    Looking forward to season 2.

Worth your time only if you've seen the anime
If you've watched the 20 something episodes and the first half of this movie, then you're in for a treat!

The movie's story is very cliched, the characters are predictably one-note and yet its not bad.

It's passable. I took two days to watch this because i got bored on the first day. The plot drags. The animation is fine but shines during action scenes.

But then the second half of the movie comes up and dammit its good! The action had me holding my breath even though I had no interest in the characters or plot. It's just cool to notice all the call backs and references you've picked up on from watching the anime. And it all falls into place pretty well although it could have been so much cooler.

The reason I've given this 6 stars is because end plot tells a very messed up story about how sorcerers in power simply use their students as training dolls to be maimed to an inch of death while regular humans and surroundings get destroyed in the aftermath.

Not to forget, the love plot is turns the female character into nothing more than a tool that the protagonist just uses as a weapon until his job is done. Then the girl re appears, tells him she loves him and conveniently disappears. Like bruh wtf!?!?!?

Then again, anime has always been extremely problematic.

    So much fun!
This movie was so much fun. The animation, the fights, the story.

Fist of all the movie looked so good. Mappa did such a good job but I mean it's Mappa so .. that was expected. But everything looks nice and smooth and the details in some shots... I really love some good animation and I was not disappointed.

Then the story (it is based on the manga so yeah credits to the mangaka) was really good as well. It was really well paced, there was this tension through out the whole movie that made you want to watch it with excitement till the end. And the pacing just made sense. The story was obviously nice and well thought out and it's a really nice addition to the already exiting story.

(minor spoilers in this part) I loved that all the characters got there moment. We got to see Maki in action and she was amazing, Inumaki as well obviously and then Panda got his moment as well... That's exactly what I wanted and needed.

We also got to see Gojo in action wich I was also really exited about.

    (end of spoilers)

It was just very very entertaining. And as I said in the beginning It was just extremely fun to watch. So even tho we didn't get a mind-blowing plot or anything I still give it 10 stars because I just watched the movie and I didn't want it to end and I was having a lot of fun.

Thank you PVR for bringing this to India
Finally after 6 months, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 got released in India and it was pretty much hyped up. The movie is a prequel story of Yuta Okkatsu, the protagonist.

The animation is stunning as always, the story-telling of Yuta and Rika is creative, beautiful, and deeply tragic, and we even see the return of our our fan-favorite characters. There was less action and I was hoping for more to see.

The movie explored the characters of Maki and Togo, which was quite impressive. MAPPA has done a great job with animation, almost in the similar lines of the TV series, if not better. The wait of 6 months was worth it and now I am eagerly waiting for the Ita-Noba-Megu trio to come back to television.

    My Rating : 8/10.
