    Incredibly Sloppy Film
I don't even know where to begin. I have seen all kinds of horror across the years; the good, the bad, and the ugly. But I think Thanksgiving (2023) takes the cake for being the most sloppy and confused horror film of ALL time. The only reason I gave it a 2 instead of a 1 is that the deaths were compelling fun and I enjoyed trying to figure out how someone could make a movie so bad like this. In a way, it's a real art.

The pacing is terrible. The editing is terrible. The writing and story is terrible. The acting is terrible. The gimmicks are entertaining.

The beginning scene is excruciating. I'm made to believe that A) people line up for Black Friday shopping anymore, B) the biggest crowd ever assembles violently for a waffle iron, and C) they kill each other to get into the store.

From there on, things only get worse. Every scene is incredibly short and makes you feel like the movie is 3 hours long. You get introduced to a new character every 3 minutes on average. You feel like most scenes are actually in between what the actual scenes should have been. A lot of the time you're told information you don't see or have to make assumptions in order for things to make sense. There's characters who are just completely useless like the protagonist's 2nd boyfriend who disappears and is only used as a foil for her 1st boyfriend.

Every victim has no concept of how to run away or how they might actually fight back. And every death after the fact is somehow glossed over. There's a loose motivation for the killer, but anyone seems in danger so it makes no sense. Not to mention, he's a small town cop who must have military training for being so OP. He can even be in two places at once, especially in the end.

    Blood and Thanksgiving
Eli Roth had already demonstrated his talent for horror with the shocking "Hostel" (2006), and he stands out again in his most recent work, "Thanksgiving" (2023). This slasher is simple and straightforward, but well executed.

The premise of involving a popular holiday in the horror genre has existed for decades, with Christmas being the most replicated of all. "Thanksgiving" delivers a relatively new proposal by including the Thanksgiving holiday in this count. The film's originality lies mainly in this element and in some specific scenes, such as its bloody beginning showing a violent Black Friday and its ending portraying a Thanksgiving dinner full of gore. Despite these small breaths of originality, the work as a whole sounds like any other recent teen slasher, featuring few new features and forgettable characters. While some practical effects are well done, not all of them stand out.

With a predictable plot twist, "Thanksgiving" ends up being a pleasant surprise for the year 2023. The film fulfills its role as a typical slasher, showing many deaths with gore, moments of tension and certain doses of humor.

    Baffled!!!!!
Highly baffled that anyone liked this movie??? It was terrible! The only good scene was the "turkey " scene and it quickly died down after the head bashing. The love triangle was beyond flat. The deaths looked terrible executed and the acting was poor. How this went to theaters is beyond me. I had high hopes due to it being an Eli Roth film but sheesh, I could've just read the plot synopsis and been done with it. I understand the beginning being about how crazy Black Friday shopping can be but these people were fighting over a waffle maker???? Newlon went after everyone BUT the person who killed his mistress baby mama like WHAT???
