magesole - 1 October 2023 Loved it Loved the simplicity and the warmth of this film. All the characters seemed real, acted as real and genuine human beings. It's truly a pleasure to watch a film these days in which people are three dimensional, have depth and complexity, not just a parody of evil bullies, goody two shoes, drama queens, squares, rounds and so on, and on.
Did not read the book, do not feel the need to. Films, series, books are separate entities that can (and should) be considered independently from one another. Also, even if the main characters are young, their age is not the defining feature of the film. Coming of age? A bit. But the story is more about second chances and being understanding, caring towards others.
As a romantic, comedic drama it definitely gets my highest score, because I believe we need more of such films.
glukozavr - 12 July 2022 A very decent story I was surprised, that it is not just some another teens drama. The emotional maturity of this film is so much above the average. Instead of usual over dramatic teens this piece shows us mature individuals who are capable not only to understand the emotion of the other, but deal with their own shit with a minor push from mates.
It might be a bit idealistic for teens, although one of the characters is 20, this is what I want to see in modern generation youth.
I really enjoyed the film and it's a sip of fresh air in the chaos in films about infantile and egoistic characters, the whole drama of which is realizing that other people also have feelings.
Totally recommend and love to see films being more like this one. Actors are really good, fit their characters so nice, believed in every scene. Almost ;)
jesamazinghawley - 15 June 2022 Not cheesy at all, actually! I watched it with the expectation of a cheesy teen romance. I ended up getting totally roped in my this film. I was gonna rate it 7, but I found myself thinking about it later. It's been rolling around in my head and I keep finding more reasons to like it. There were no villains. Every time you thing someone fits a stereotype, they turn it around on you and show two sides to every character. Even the romance isn't forced or cheesy. It slowly develops for you. This one really surprised me!
