gmfude - 18 June 2024 Ridiculous. Recommended. Riot of fun. You have to suspend disbelief as you do in, say, any of the John Wick films. But this one actually has a plot! A fairly limited one but it isn't just a revenge flick, the character's motive is clear from the first 5 or so minutes. That the character is who he is becomes the driver of the movie.
If you don't like seeing evil Nazis killed in a variety of ways then this is not your film. If you do not view some films as pure escapism and expect documentary reality then this is not your film.
Otherwise, enjoy your tour through bleak northern Finland as the trail of bodies grows. I didn't know the cast but they perform well in their roles and the direction is taut and focused on... well, you'll see!
A solid 8 out of 10 for me; not necessarily awarded for moviemaking, but for sheer enjoyment in a movie.
darrellmayhew - 6 May 2024 It's a Nazi-killing-feast! Imagine a Rambo movie set in Lapland at the end of WW2 heavily inspired by Sergio Leone films and you have Sisu. An over-the-top bloodbath loaded with explosions, stabbings, dismemberments and a hint of black comedy. This gritty Nazi-killing-feast is possibly the most satisfying action movie of the Summer - as long as you like movies unbelievably violent & gory. It's pretty far fetched throughout and maybe a bit too ridiculous towards the end - and I say that after watching John Wick 4! Still, it's beautifully shot, has a fantastic score and a powerhouse performance from Finnish actor Jorma Tommila as the Legend. Sisu is pure entertainment!
gazzajar - 24 March 2024 Completely unbelievable It is beyond ridiculous. Two dimensional characters. The main character is supposedly indestructible even though he's in his 70's
Did anybody associated with this film read the script before, during or after production?
It takes itself seriously so it is not meant to be a comedy, yet the characters do stupid stuff one after the other.
The story is more basic than basic and it doesn't offer anything remotely new, surprising or interesting.
I gave this movie a four mainly because it sounds pretty good and there's enough explosions to keep me from falling asleep.
It looks like they had the budget to make something interesting but as always you need a script and decent direction.
