    Stick to making records guys!
The Foo Fighters (as in the real rock band) are due to record their tenth album but they want to do something different. They set up studio in a large Californian house that comes with a murky past. Frontman Davi Grohl is suffering with writers' block and starts seeing horrific visions, which soon become reality. The movie is based on a book that he wrote and comes over as rather self-indulgent. Don't get me wrong, he comes across as a nice guy in real life (as do the rest of the band), but here it's all a bit too much "me, me, me". Horror comedy is a genre that either works or it doesn't and I'm afraid that apart from the odd laughs this one overall isn't very funny. In fact with a running time of 106 minutes it becomes quite a bore. By the 80 minute mark I'd pretty much had enough. It goes without saying that the Foos are musicians, not actors, so don't get your hopes up with good acting. Some of the guys are more convincing than others but it's Pat Smear, lovely chap that he seems, that gets the wooden spoon award. On a positive note it's cool to see Slayer's Kerry King and horror legend John Carpenter have small rolls. The other good thing about this movie is the gore, it doesn't hold back. A couple getting chainsawed in half whilst having sex is a real standout. There are a few nods to the Evil Dead, or it could be argued that things such as a book of spells made from human flesh was blatantly copied. If you are a big FF fans then you're probably going to love this movie. I think they are a great band, indeed I have seen them twice in concert, but I wouldn't put them in my favourite top 20 bands. I watched this because I am a massive horror fan. Studio 666 was a cool idea, it could have been so much better.

    A joy to watch
I found studio 666 a joy to watch. Of course I might be bias because I like the foo fighters, but I could tell they had fun and for me that's a big highlight. Watching a cast of a film enjoy the movie makes it better. Of course the guys might not be great actors, but I think their acting was pretty natural. The horror elements mixed with the comedy well and the plot was not boring. It was fleshed out well and had enough meat to keep it watchable. And come on it's the foo freaking fighters in a horro movie that Dave wrote. Now it might have came to him in a fever dream, but I think it was well produced and made. And again it was just fun and for a horror movie it's sometimes hard to say. So thank you for this movie Dave. Rest in peace Taylor.

    Foolishness, gore and Foo Fighters!
A horror comedy directed by BJ McDonnell that gives what it promises. Dave Grohl and his band The Foo Fighters face a possible problem connected to music royalties and would like to find a unique location to record their tenth and much anticipated studio album. A mansion in Encino, California is selected, not knowing of its gory and mysterious history. It seems previously an other rock band tempted to record in the mansion, only to meet their deadly demise. Grohl finds the acoustics to be perfect, but realizes he has hit a writer's block. Strange sounds and visions leads the band's leader to a hidden spot, where he finds reels of recording tape...and the material is excellent to his ear. A satanic possession takes Grohl on rock-star power trip and band members must endure his bullying while witnessing several bloody deaths.

Gory and disturbing scenes. Bad acting, sorry editing and questionable directing...but we signed up to watch a well loved rock band to have a good time while making fun of themselves.

    So entertaining and funny
Honestly, I freaking loved this film. The fact that I'm a huge foo fan is beside the point, this is just pure stupid humor at its best. Based off some other reviews I can tell some folks came in expecting some Oscar worthy horror film or something. This is not that, nor was it intended to be. They aren't actors, they are just goofy dudes doing a cheesy horror film and I am here for it. The cheesy goriness reminded me of the classic 80s slasher films. Ridiculous and over the top, the way it should be. Pat was probably my favorite in the film. He is just so happy and adorable! I will say, I'm so sad I only got around to watching this after Taylor passed, but it was great getting to see him one last time.

    Hell... oh?
Studio 666 is having a laugh, unfortunately the viewer isn't.

There are very few moments to like, mostly it's just silly and annoying. Including a nonsense plot, poor dialogue and intentionally stupid acting.
