Quethinks - 17 June 2024 An okay film but massively disappointing when you compare it to other movies Elemental is a visually stunning film that ultimately fails to deliver on its now overdone concept. With a lackluster plot, underdeveloped characters, and uninspired direction result in a movie that feels disappointingly mediocre.
While it may entertain younger audiences with its colorful animation and simple storyline and slapstick, it lacks the depth and emotional weight that make Pixar films appealing to viewers of all ages. It looks like Pixar is going down the Disney route of making movies they will entertain kids and no one else.
Which is sad, since yes Disney is a kids' entrainment monopoly, but as Brad Bird said, a person who directed arguable one of the best superhero and Pixar movies of all time, that being The Incredibles and Ratatouille said once in an interview that when he started production on The Incredibles he had adults in mind and kids as an afterthought and when parents went up to him and said "My kid is a big fan of your movies" he would say "Yeah, but what did you think about it?" which isn't a surprise since The Incredibles is kinda a family drama with superheros being sprinkled in throughout and it worked brilliantly.
So Pixar has always been about making movies for kids AND adults can enjoy watching together with them putting a ton of heart and care into their movies and leaving audiences emotional, and also it works out finical and critical with the movie earning big bucks at the box office and winning multiple awards.
As I'm writing this review, Inside Out 2 came an out, a sequel to 2015's massively successful Inside Out, and it's doing amazing earning $295M in it opening weekend and that just 3 days, so it's definitely going to crack $1B at the box office so expect a lot of Pixar sequels in the coming years.
Elemental is an okay film but coming from a studio that made Toy Story, Coco, Inside Out, and The Incredibles, Ratatouille and that just to name a few, it is a huge step down from those movies with it having a basic plot and characters and no emotional core more of a will they won't they situation which is just unoriginal.
sinefili - 8 May 2024 Stunning Visuals and a Heartwarming Tale Bu cliche "Elemental" stands out as a sparkling achievement in Pixar's storied lineup, masterfully blending imaginative storytelling with awe-inspiring visuals. The film introduces us to Ember and Wade, characters from divergent elemental worlds of fire and water, respectively. Their journey through a beautifully rendered city teeming with elemental beings underscores themes of diversity, acceptance, and the power of understanding differences. Pixar's craftsmanship is evident in every frame, portraying complex interplays of light and texture that bring this unique universe to life. Engaging, poignant, and visually spectacular, "Elemental" is a compelling tale of unity that resonates with all ages, reminding us of the strength found in our shared humanity.
panalichai - 10 March 2024 Highly recommended! This movie animation is one of the best works I have ever seen. It's full of meaning based on real society. This movie does a great job of showing the inequality and differences in life. It also makes me realize how beautiful love is to understand the other and be together. It's a precious movie that makes you feel hope and love for people in this harsh world.
The story opens with a fire element family who immigrated to the capital element city which is beings of earth, water, air and fire exist. In the city no one accepts the fire element, they have to face prejudice and segregation. Therefore, To start a new address as a store, called The Fireplace, Time passes by the Fireplace become the unofficial hub of Firetown which Bernie hopes someday Ember will be the inheritor. This scene makes me feel sad and extremely unfair. It also reflects many things in today's society such as discrimination whether it be based on skin color, race, or social status. Moreover, It also reflects the family's expectation. Until sometimes it makes me think that the wishes of our family that they want us to be inheritor will become the future goals that ourselves are not aware of.
Furthermore, I really like the movie represent the story of pure love. I even cried when i saw this film. It conveys the mood of this period very well. Elemental is the most romantic movie for me. Thier love story was so beautiful, even though they came from different worlds. The water guy, who has sweetheart and connects with others through his heart is paired with a firer girl, who has temper, impatient and always striving to fulfull parent dream without having her own target. Water guy who have truly love with uncondition. The truly love from dad that only want to see daughter happy. The storyline and truly love were so touching. One scene that really stuck out to me was the scene where Wade sacrificed himself to save the heroine. It was a scene that made me shed tears. Because it reflects that if we truly love someone, we will sacrifice everything to make their life better. Even after that, there will be no more of us walking beside him.
The animation is quite stunning to behold, fluid and conveys meaning very well. I can tell PIXAR had so much fun with it. The world fill with creative and attention to detail. The story isn't difficult to understand at all. At my first impression was the soundtrack make me feel very exciting to the visuals, enhancing the emotional impact of each scene. I can feel the character emotion. I suggest that if you have a child, show them this movie, they will probably like it. I highly recommended.
