cinderelladekleijn - 14 March 2024 Worst film in years The description of the movie was "a teenager and her brother need to stop a terrifying internet meme"
I was hopeful, but got disappointed real fast. At first it seemed like the monster was created by the very real and rapidly growing threat that is electronic device addiction. Very early on it gets clear that it is not the addiction but the overly worried parents who are the energy source for this monster. Making it seem as though screen time is not a problem at all and that parents are just overprotective. Even though you can clearly see that these kids can't even handle 2 hours without a phone or laptop. That seems to be no concern at all. I was convinced that this was written by a 14 year old influencer, but no. A grown man in his mid forties wrote it and is proud of it too. The monster is mediocre. The way it moves, the way it pops up and licks blood off of a knife is all empty. It does nothing. It doesn't build up tension, it doesn't scare, it does nothing. The acting was okayish, not the worst I've seen, except for the dad. Yikes. But the script was awful. There was no character building so I didn't feel a thing for any of the characters and couldn't care less about those who got hurt. The ending is of course pro influencers and no compromises were made... as in; let's not ban the screen time all together, but let's also not make it our entire lives, either. The message is clear: Parents need to chill out and they need to try to understand that this is just the new normal.
This movie just isn't it.
shaikhirshad-41223 - 9 September 2023 Good plot with average execution Grimcutty name itself is like weired kind of a thing but the way they have shown the Grimcutty in this film is actually enjoyable.
It gives you thrills at some moments and little bit of horror for the appearance of Grimcutty. Well storyline is good because it has a new concept of how Grimcutty controls your mind and attack others or how it gets to you but the execution is not good. Some scenes are very basic and feel very average to see well some are good too. This is a thriller film so don't expect much horror but still you cam enjoy for the 1st time as it has enough thrill moments to draw your attention. Story, screenplay is good. Music is average not very well delivered. Director & writer can create a perfect story by adding some more sub-plots into it but rather they made a basic average thriller film which is just a one time watch for the viewers. Acting is good by all the cast specially the leading ones is good. Talking about the Grimcutty I like the design and all but the important thing is we don't know it's origin only director could've enlighten us with the story of Grimcutty more and it can make a good impact to the film.
Anyway it's definitely a one time watch for thrill moments and Scary Grimcutty Lookalike Creature but don't expect much......
Idpreferyoudead - 26 February 2023 Shame it didn't stick to reality Grimcutty is clearly inspired by Momo and sadly if they'd just stuck to the reality of some super creeper putting a scary face into tv shows for toddlers and telling them to do bad things then this movie might have been scary. Instead we've got a poser with a youtube channel who insists on giving her parents hell, puts her little brother in danger, and some supernatural crap where the parents freak out over their kids using the internet which brings the Grimcutty to life BUT only the kid can see it, not the parents.
The Grimcutty close up, has a cool looking face but what on earth is happening with his body? He's got no neck. It's comical. He looks like that guy from Minions.
The worst thing about Grimcutty is the wannabe YouTube blogger's incessant need to whisper her videos. This is not calming guys. It is not zen. It's infuriating.
While in general I'm not a fan, I can see the point it's attempting to make: Momo was an internet hoax which became viral wildfire because of hysterical parents. There was no threat, they imagined one. This movie tries to take that up a notch but I don't think it worked.
RedneckAngel83 - 22 November 2022 Needed a better villian. The storyline is good, the acting is decent, the cinematography is even done well. The reason it didn't get at least 8 stars? The "Grimcutty" character looked like a 5 year old with a creation app made it on the fly one day. It looks so incredibly fake that I couldn't take it seriously. It honestly looks like someone took Gru from the Minions movies and got him possessed by a demon. I can better appreciate a horror monster that looks like it COULD be real - this was done terribly...I have seen better and more realistic Halloween costumes.
I ONLY recommend this movie on the chance that you can ignore how crappy the villian is. As I stated above, good plotline, good camera work and decent acting...they just lost the ball with the title character.
bertler-1 - 30 October 2022 Quite boring... GRIMCUTTY is a mediocre horror film but an interesting lesson in hysteria. If you ever see masked people wandering through the supermarket or deranged people sticking themselves to important works of art, then you know that Grimcutty has long been among us.
None of the characters are believable, and even worse is the performance of all the actors. The script is simple and unbelievable.
What's really disturbing and terrifying about the film is Shannyn Sossamon, who has gone from a wishful woman to an obese suburban mom...
The creature design is really bad, you've met more convincing monsters on the street on Halloween...
campergrl - 25 October 2022 Not bad The premise was pretty good. I just wish they would have saved the monster towards the end of the movie, but it freaked even me out and I'm a long time horror movie watcher. The only thing that pissed me off was her parents not believing anything she said or would listen to her. If I had a child and they told me something was wrong or they were seeing things I would believe them and not try to lock them up in a hospital. The parents were sorry people and didn't deserve to be called parents. The movie itself was pretty good and I enjoyed the monster which was really creepy. The parents and how they acted was the only thing that really pissed me off.
