Civil War and Kirsten Dunst are top contenders for best film and actor of this year.
Civil War is a 'what if' scenario where the USA could be if their divisive politics continue as they have over the past decade. It could very easily happen in other parts of the world too. In my opinion this movie seems to be where the world is headed.

Everyone should see this film. It is terrifying because it is a future that is possible. Collapse of government happens quickly. It is not limited to the US at all. It has some truly wild implications.

The United States is at civil war against its own rebellious states. Famous war photojournalist Lee Smith, along with her colleagues Joel and Sammy makes a plan to drive to Washington D. C. to capture the moment when the city falls and conduct a final interview of the president. Along the way she also saves Jessie, a newbie photojournalist, from a suicide bombing. Jessie decides to join the group. How they bond over the short period of time and how they take photographs so that others can ask the right questions, forms the rest of the story.

A truly immersive experience into what a civil war in America could be and feel like. A particular stand out of the film is the sound design. The movie uses its surround sound space as a vital part of its story telling. The gunshots surround you and rock the viewer. The soundtrack has explosive moments that remind you that you are in a place of chaos and instability.

All the technical departments are in sync.

Alex Garland is one of my favourite writers but his style is not for everyone. He is also the director here.

Kirsten Dunst is phenomenal. This is amongst her best work. The whole movie plays out through her reactions. Wagner Moura is equally brilliant. Stephen McKinley Henderson's beautifully wise tone and Cailee Spaeny's reverse mirroring her idol's journey add to the team's acting strength. Jesse Plemons (in an uncredited role) heavily evokes a character that could be straight out of Khmer Rouge.

Civil War and Kirsten Dunst are top contenders for best film and actor of this year.

Civil War is not an easy watch.

    Wasted 2 hours
Let me start of by saying the so called 23 year old girl looks like a 14 year old kid.

I have watched tems of thousands of movies but I HAD to create an IMDB account for this movie to let others know why this movie is so bad.

Suffice to say that I skipped half of the movie by pressing the forward button every 2 minutes. Slow, confusin to say the least.

Nobody in the movie knows what is going on and it looks like everybody just wants to get to the end of this disaster.

    Plot: Non Existent

    Character Development: Zero

    Action: Last 15 minutes

    Acting: 2/10

    Clickbait: 100%

Correct Title for the movie: Road Trip in Fanatsy USA

Time spent: Wasted 120 minutes life.

    Rating: 1/100

    Recommend? Nopes!

    Unprofessional
This movie by its name should be cold, heavy and emotional, however after you watched the movie, you will see this movie is not that, it is messy, scattered and making no logic sense. The save of the movie is the performance by experienced actress Dunst.

Like many mediocre movies, there are a few moron characters, for example 2 Asian maniac journalists who seemed fearless but actually they are just brainless, wonder how could they be war journalists. The biggest moron of the movie is the lead character Jessie, amateur war journalist who got 2 experienced journalists killed because of her moron behaviors.

If there is anything to take away from this movie for your kids, is do not associate with morons.

    "Don't let them kill me"
I really liked this movie. Many of my friends recommended it, so I decided to watch it myself. I was not disappointed.

Garland plays with the audience throughout. The story is vague. We know that there is a civil war raging in the United States, but the casus belli is never revealed, and it's unclear how they got to this point. I must admit, this annoys me a bit. I like it when a movie leaves room for the viewer's imagination, and you have to fill in the gaps in the story yourself. However, in such cases, you usually get some clues, but this didn't happen here. All we know is that war is raging, and there is misery and destruction. Many people find this brilliant, but I didn't like it as much.

Situations in the plot change from one moment to the next. In one scene, everything is idyllic, and in the next, the viewer is faced with the deepest brutality. I really enjoyed this, and the film managed to shock me several times.

All the actors give strong performances, but Dunst's performance is outstanding. Of course, this is a highly subjective opinion. I really liked her cold, distant, and inscrutable burnt-out character. She nailed it and excellently portrayed what she needed to. I was a bit disappointed that Nick Offerman didn't get more screen time.

I recommend this film to everyone! It's worth watching!

    Civil Bore
What an absolute snooze fest. I wanted to rate lower than 5 but I like Kirsten and her husband (wish he was in it more). The acting was alright I guess. The problem was that this civil war is shown through the lens (literally) of a young female photographer/ wanna journalist. I mean, of course it was. Hollywood can't seem to tell any story these days except through the view of some teenage/20 something young person. What a complete waste of a very interesting civil war plot. A few minutes of action mixed in with a boring road trip across the country. It was so dull you are better off fast forwarding through most of it.
