    Completely out of touch
The writers of "The Strangers: Chapter 1" seem entirely disconnected from contemporary sensibilities and taste. The plot is riddled with outdated clichés, starting with the car breaking down-a trope so overused it borders on parody. The characterizations of the conservative townsfolk are not only bizarre but also painfully stereotypical, lacking any depth or nuance. This lazy and unimaginative approach to storytelling feels more like a straight-to-DVD release from 2003, rather than a film meant to engage today's audience.

Moreover, the dialogue is stilted, and the interactions between characters feel forced and unnatural. The townsfolk, instead of adding a layer of suspense or intrigue, come off as caricatures, reducing any potential for genuine horror or tension. It's as if the writers didn't bother to update their understanding of what makes horror compelling in the modern era, relying instead on tired tropes and predictable plot devices.

The film fails to innovate or bring anything new to the genre, leaving it feeling stale and uninspired. The horror elements are lackluster, failing to evoke any real fear or suspense. Instead, the audience is left rolling their eyes at the sheer predictability of it all. "The Strangers: Chapter 1" is a disappointing addition to the horror genre, offering nothing more than a collection of overdone clichés and uninspired storytelling.

Wanted to love this, I loved the original! This film is beyond frustrating! Stupid kids who make the dumbest choices possible.
I was excited when I saw that they were making what appeared to be a remake of the original Strangers film. The original has always been one of my favorite horror movies from my childhood. I didn't expect it to compare, but I was excited to see this new twist or how they bring this movie back alive again. I'm rating this movie as its own film separate from the original, and my rating continually decreased as the movie went on. I love Madelaine Petsch from Riverdale, but sadly even she couldn't save this movie. One incredibly stupid decision after another makes this movie almost comical. I was so frustrated by the end of the film I wanted to turn it off. Why is it so difficult for people to have an original thought these days...they couldn't have come up with any other sort of stalker-like movie? And worst of all, why is it the most challenging thing to make a GOOD or even DECENT horror film these days??? The scariest parts were the silence, loud knocks, and foot steps which were few and far between. Horror films have all been incredibly disappointing over the last 5 or so years and this is another one to add to the list!

    Believe The Reviews
I take reviews with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to horror movies. I have found that sometimes low rated horror movies are in fact pretty good, it really depends on the person and what they are looking for. I'm here to tell you, believe the reviews-this movie was bad. It's full of cliches and horror movie tropes. The characters are one dimensional and even though the film tries to make you care about them you just don't. The performances are wooden and uninspired. As a fan of the first one and more or less the second one (Prey at Night) I had high hopes for this one but my god was the execution done badly. The director is Renny Harlin and if you look at the movies he's done he has more flops than hits so I was apprehensive when I saw he was the director. This movie frustrated me as nothing was a surprise or scary even though they tried really hard to make it that way. I hope the next two will be better, we will see.

Worse Prequel EVER -- Save Your Money!!!!
Strangers chapter 1 failed miserably at making a suspenful impact. The movie felt short of enough, though should I say appropriate, shock value to satisfy the audience. In addition to the lackluster cinematography, the movie failed to provide the audience with an adequate sense of chill or thriller. This movie is NOT strong enough to stand alone as a prequel !!! Additionally it was rated R and for what?? 2 stab wounds??? Just wait for chapter 2 to release in order to get a proper experience. Sad considering that "The Strangers Prey at Night" (2018) was colossal in terms of impact and delivery!

Makes you wanna smash your screen
You end up in a town that has a population of 450ish people, everyone is staring at you like you fu*** their moms, you learn that there was a recently missing traveler, your car breaks down suddenly and you are offered an Airbnb in the middle of nowhere until your car is fixed by the most shady rude mechanic in that god forsaken staring town. You go to your secluded cabin and a strange girl knocks on your door asking for whatever just to stand far and stare at you. You decide to leave your soulmate in that house alone and go town to buy food ?????.

Your soulmate now is completely alone in the middle of nowhere, the same weird girl come back knocking on the door, alarming right?? You decide to be as loud as possible playing music, piano ignoring all signs and tops it with a shower where you are most vulnerable!!!. Electricity is off, the girl is not alarmed yet for some reason, search for the fuse box, sees a masked person, hides away until bf comes back on an old motorbike without making a single noise. Now you would assume that you are both alarmed right?

Wrong, they decide its been a long day plus weed you know, lets eat food and have fun !!!!

Now, you know that there is someone out there to get you and they were messing with you since you arrived and they've been already in the house so what do you do? You immediately head to kitchen to grab a knife and search for an exit right?

Wrong, you hide from someone with an axe in the bathroom that has a wooden door and no exit !!!!

Somehow you found a way out of the house, you would assume that whoever is hunting you, knows the house inside out and they are one step ahead of you so you decide to hide in the house shed !!!!!! Instead of taking you chances in the vast open forest.

You found a shotgun, thats it, you are taking your chances in the forest which make sense since both of you can cover all angles while escaping. NOOOOOO, you go back to the same house !!!

You are separated and you are now alone in the forest, you decide to run in a straight line as fast as you can like there is no tomorrow right ?

Wrong !!! You move as slow as possible !!!

Somehow you succeeded and hid from the killer , he/she didn't notice you and left, success right !!!! Nooo, you Leave your hiding place instantly to give them another shot at you !!!

The boy armed with a shotgun is in the forest looking for his soulmate knowing there is multiple killers out there, decides to scream her name as loud as he can!!!

None of the couple reactions in this movie makes any sense, in reality, the moment that girl showed up at your door staring at you would put any person, let alone couples in full alarm mode and most would have just left back to town, maybe spending the night in the town square until the morning, at least this is what me and my gf would have done without a second thought, i mean you already knows there is a missing person in this god forsaken town!!
