This movie is the best dreamworks movie
I can't believe I'm saying this. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is the best Dreamworks movie. A puss in boots sequel is the best. Can you believe that? I had such high hopes for this movie and it left me feeling so satisfied and happy. The high hopes were replaced with high feelings. The last puss in boots shocked me with how entertaining and funny it was. This movie right off the bat has everything the last movie lacked. Fairytales. Plus Gingy and Pinocchio make a cameo. So my first impressions were he's a blank that is forced to be a blank but doesn't wanna be. But it's different. It's not cliche at all. Because of Death. The wolf is what makes this movie, this movie. It's what turns this high 7 into the best movie I've watched so far. The metaphor for death. He is truly scared of this wolf and I'll be honest, so am I. This thing is so flipping scary. It's bright red eyes and thin snout. Its blood shot eyes freak me out. Especially the way it whistles and stands in the middle of the screen. Everyone wonders what the meaning of life is. That is what is shown in the first half. You are so damn scared of dying that you choose to live safety, and boringly. That is what happens when you let your life waste away doing what you hate, just because it is safe. Don't be afraid of death. That's the strong message of this story. Wishing for more life will get you no where. Death will always come. He will always be there. I think I'd rather take the egg from the first movie than freaking Perro. Don't get me wrong, love Guillermo from what we do in the shadows. But this movie feels chopped with another dumb sidekick. Look at this cast dude. You got Florence Pugh, Harvey Guillen, John Mulaney, Samon Kayo- WAIT JOHN MULANEY? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. John Mulaney could steal my soul and murder my whole family and I'd be thankful he even said my name. I would cry if I met him. And even if I didn't look up the cast, I'd easily recognise that voice. Out of the 70 movies I've watched in this journey, NONE of them have sworn. None. And this one covers it with bleeps, which none of them do either. Crazy. He called himself poop for brains. Wild. Unpredictability and Watchability are the most important things you need for a movie. This has both. You never know what's gonna happen next, and any age could watch it and find it amazing and funny. "You're not gonna shoot a puppy are you Jack?" "Yeah, in the face, why?" "STOP THROWING MY MEN AT ME." Yes, yes, yes. Here come the moment. The best possible portrayal of an anxiety attack in pop media ever. Heart pumping fast, vision distorting, breathing rapidly and paired with some of the greatest visuals. He isn't a cliche. He isn't crying and fainting and screaming. He's having an anxiety attack. He can't breathe so he runs away. It's Puss. Sure Jack is the villain. Mean, angry, ugly and fat. But Death is always there. Always watching. Puss learns that when he stops thinking about how he's afraid of death and learns to overcome it, that death stops following him around. Anyway all of the characters are different and varied in many ways. They are all there for a reason. I like how there's not just one protagonist. And Goldie even has her own plot. A relatable one too. You feel like your family is not your own. That you aren't like them. I just wish It was explored a bit more. But when I start to feel down I just get punched in the face with John Mulaney acing his voice acting "I was worried I would come out naked but my clothes grew too. Cool" love this movie. The one quote that sums it up. "I know I can never defeat you lobo, but I will never stop fighting for this life." Uses the myth of cats having nine lives to its advantage. "Aww that is so cute... how you think that would work on me. Don't you know I'm dead inside? By the way your nose is bleeding." And once again we thought death was the villain. But if he was truly the villain, all our lives would be an animated movie. Plus it set up for a sequel, showing the far far away sign. Count me in for that one!

    So much fun
These days I find myself browsing my phone from time to time throughout a movie. Not with this one. The jokes are great, the characters well written and the writing is excellent because there's a rhythm to it and it flows really well.

It's an innocent movie that's just about having a good time in the TV sofa. At no point do I feel hit over the head and lectured with clumsy messaging that's so tiresomely in vogue in Hollywood at the moment.

I wish they made more movies like this and I'm therefore very pleased I paid for it by renting it rather than getting it included with a streaming service.

    I thoroughly recommend it.

    An unexpected masterpiece
When the information about this movie dropped out I didn't get to excited. I liked the first one enough, but I couldn't call it a great movie that need a sequel. Also I didn't like the trailer, the animation was like a copy of a spiderverse and nine lives concept didn't interest me enough. So, I wnt in this movie with low expectations. And damn, it got me.

It was pirfect from the first scene to the last. The animation that look strange in the trailer in the first scene pulled rainbow out of my eyes. And with colorful beginning the movie got deep and dark. The main message dit hit me, the characters were charismatic and the movie itself talked about interesting and serious topics. But somehow all this darkness don't make you feel depressed, no, in the final it brings up all the positive emotions that a person can have.

It is only 9.5/10 just because the plot wasn't that original. Otherwise it is an awesoe movie which I can recommend to everybody.

    Disappointed
The first movie is one of my favorites. It's funny, the story keeps you on your toes, the visuals are amazing. This one... didn't live up to the amazing adventures of puss in boots, nor his humor. Watching the animations I thought to myself that something must be wrong because it looked like something from 2005, not 2022. Or at least a different style that the original and what I'm used to seeing from DreamWorks. Puss in boots, kitty and some other characters were really well animated whereas, comapared to perrito and the environment which felt like a really early scketch. It didn't feel finished and it wasn't worth the wait.

An experience that you will never regret
This movie didn't need to go so far but it did. The writing, animation, designs, environments and music are all superb. You can tell the team behind this put in their purest amount of effort into every nook and cranny of this film.

Even in the Shrek universe this film builds and adds more immersion and depth to it, creating a new appreciation to the past movies and makes you reflect on them in an even deeper and brighter way.

By the end of the movie you will learn to appreciate your life in a whole new way and be thankful you watched this.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is an astonishing family friendly film to be rewatched in future living rooms for decades to come.

    Amazing movie!
This movie is simply incredible. It has an amazing combination of emotions, humor, and stunning animations that can make you both laugh and cry. I honestly believe it surpasses Shrek in its quality. Dreamworks has done an exemplary job here, and I'm hoping to see more of their work in the future. Puss in Boots was an especially delightful surprise, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in future productions. I don't often take the time to write reviews, but this movie definitely deserved one. Antonio Banderas was also spectacular in his role. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this movie and believe that it's an absolute must-watch.

An honest story that is entertaining and beautiful with timeless tint, addressing the thrones and joy of our lives and ones we love.
I am surprised that on a tiring evening deciding to watch a fun animation took us on a ride that does not take itself seriously, but it is magnificently serious.

Swept away by the themes explored, I deeply relate to it, heck I even found solace and learned something from the simplicity in this complexity that I can take into my life.

As a seeker of better ways to animate that would enhance the ability of telling stories. I am glad to share that the mix of CGI, drawn images like painted and frame rate changes are truly unique. It is innovative not just in its techniques but how it has been used to show the range of expressions and details of each element of this journey.

    Story 10/10 Acting 10/10 Script 10/10 Animation 11/10 Themes 10/10 World building 10/10.

    Surprisingly Very Good
I sat down not expecting much from the movie. Loved Shrek 1 and 2 but the sequels that followed along with the first Puss N Boots movie were average to below average, which set my expectations rather low.

However I found this movie highly entertaining. People will complain about the animation but it was a production choice to go the route they did...at first I wasn't sure about it but as the movie progressed I understood their choice and embraced it.

The story overall is great...family, living and loving the life you have, what more do we need. This coupled with the interweaving of the characters was smartly done. If you like me, watch animated movies to be entertained, have a few smart laughs along the way and smile when they are over...then I think you will really enjoy Puss N Boots The Last Wish.

    The best Puss ever.
I didn't expect a lot watching this film and perhaps that's why I enjoyed it so much. Puss in boots is laid back and witty, I found myself laughing and smiling through the whole film. It's a kids movie, but there's enough witty humor to entertain an adult. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who wants something funny to watch with a good moral to its story. At the heart of this film is the importance of friendship and love for those closest in your life. A simple, but powerful message.

Now the artwork in this film is incredible 😍. Ever shot looks like a painting, truly beautiful. Well done!

    Watchable but not great
The first Puss & Boots was good, but this movie was just "okay" and nothing more.

Puss is on his last of 9 lives and journeys to a fallin star to wish for more lives.

The animation is subpar compared to the first movie, and the dialog is very bland when compared to the first movie as well.

Some jokes land but most of them don't. I'm not sure where all these high ratings are coming from? They must have budgeted for the purchasing of bot votes.

The last third of the movie seemed way to scary for most kids. I'm surprised it got a pg rating. The ending was very dark and scary for most young viewers.

Anyways, this movie is watchable, but just barely. I will never watch it again, and if I knew what I know now, I would not have bothered watching it.
