When he's working he realizes that the night shift won't be so easy to get through. Pretty soon he will unveil what actually happened at Freddy's. Can you survive?. When the night shift starts, the nightmare begins !.
Adaptation of the successful video game saga of the same title created in 2014 by Scott Cawthon. Exciting terror movie packing suspenseful horror, thrills, chills, graphic violence, gory scenes and grisly killings. ¨Blumhouse" creates a disturbing and grim horror film about a murderous animatronics, and a young starring who is subjected to intense work stress that does not see prepared to take care of his younger sister. Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) gives a new vision of terror, this is a twisted horror tale with animatronics that begin to take on a life of its own, being consistently paced, adequately played and with a lot of gore, blood, twists and turns . Bizarre terror movie that's heavy on creepy scenes with acceptable, though mainly inside production design, including brilliant photography and over-the-top special effects. A sinister and unsettling flick that goes on growing more and more and developing little by little until the unexpected conclusion. It is an acceptable story that relies heavily on the impressive special effects from the fantastic animatronics. Stars Josh Hutcherson who gives a passable acting as the young man who discovers animatronics move and kill anyone they see, Piper Rubio as his small sister Abby, Elizabeth Lail as a beautiful police woman, Matthew Lillard as counselor Steve Raglan, who offers him work as a night guard and Mary Stuart Masterson as his nasty and selfish aunt.
This is one of Jason Blum's many successful productions in the horror genre. His formula for making movies as inexpensively as possible does not mean looking for low-budget movies to see if he likes them, but looking for movies he likes, and then see if they can be done on a low budget. According Jason Blum himself his rules for making a cheap movie include: 1) Limit the amount of speaking parts, because actors with lines get an additional fee; 2) Limit the amount of locations (preferably only one); 3) Pay actors the legally minimum, and offer them a percentage of perspective profits; 4) Never break the budget, don't ask for more money. His notorious films include the following: ¨The Exorcist: Believer¨, ¨Get Out¨, ¨Night Swin¨, ¨M3GAN¨, ¨Halloweeen Kills¨, ¨The Gallows Act I and II¨, ¨Insidious saga¨, ¨Firestarter¨, ¨Exposure¨, ¨Nanny¨, ¨A House on the Bayou¨ , ¨The Invisible Man¨, ¨Us¨, ¨Happy Death Day 1 and 2¨, among others.
The motion picture was uneven but professionally directed by Emma Tammi. She has worked for both film and television, such as: ¨Into the Dark¨ (2018), ¨The Left Right Game¨ (2020), ¨The Left Right Game¨ (2020), ¨The Wind¨ (2018), ¨Election Day: Lens Across America¨ (2017), and ¨Fair Chase (2014)¨. ¨Five Nights at Freddy's¨(2023) rating: 5.5/10. Average but passable and acceptable.
Quethinks - 12 June 2024 A horror movie that doesn't want to be a horror movie. Okay I start off by stating that I was and still am a fnaf fan from time to time I watched all the Matpat videos and also played the game (never beaten any since I always die by night 2) so I am familiar to the franchise.
But man this movie is a disappointment it been in development hell since Scott couldn't choose a good script but he choose this one like what? I start off with the positives I love the animatronics I think there wonderfully design by the Jim Henson creature shop and there a marvel to look at I also like the end credits song and I'm also glad this movie finally got made. Finally I think the set design is cool and the cameos made me excited even though they were shooed in
Now the negative which there plenty off, first of all the dialogue felt cheesy and corny one of the characters say "Don't bring her here, or I'll shoot you" and I had to stop myself from laughing the evil aunt felt like a add on and brought nothing to the table. The group of people who broke in the place felt like stereotypical baddies and added nothing just felt like there were there for a body count. Matthew Lillard was a waste and just felt like a cartoon villain at the end also they really mess up the lore by making Vanessa the daughter of him which is incredible pointless.
Also this movie is not scary what so ever no moments never made me scare it only relied on jumpscares in which all of them failed. Also they keep going back to this dream/flashback where Josh Hutcherson character brother garret get kidnapped and I swear god to it felt like ever other scene we kept going back to this flashback and I was pretty much yelling at me screen saying "WE GET HIS BROTHER GOT KIDNAPPED CAN WE MOVE ON?" also Abby is a fine character it cute seeing her interact with the animatronics but I think honestly it focus to much on this weird custody B-plot then the animatronics themselves.
Finally I have to end off with the tone of this movie is so weird like it doesn't know what it wants to be does it want to be a horror or a comedy like make up your mind movie! Really ashamed this movie wasn't good 1.5/5 but watch on your own and form your own opinion please don't attack me FNAF fans!
Horrorluver28 - 26 May 2024 A very good watch This review is a little late, but this movie in my opinion was a good watch for sure. It follows the life of a character named Mike who is struggling to find a job and seeks out a job counselor which ultimately leads him to Freddy's as the night guard. If you don't know any of the game lore, this movie was pretty substantial. You can follow along fairly well which is definitely a bonus on the directors part.
I will say, as a fan of Mathew Lilliard, he was one of the best choices for the position as William Afton. The man is very good at being crazy and he gets into character very well. The cast was definitely perfect for the movie. I was a fan of the games and it does stray away from the storyline, but that's perfectly ok! It's a good movie and I will definitely be watching it again.
rachelehunteray - 19 April 2024 Poor story, no stakes, and strange "twists" As someone who has played all of the games, watched numerous playthroughs online, and has been somewhat invested in the lore of the game series, this film was a disappointment. A disappointment is an understatement considering how long this film has been in the works (since 2015). I have held off on watching this film for a while since the online reviews were quite poor, as mine will be as well.
Beginning with some positive. The film has it's moments where it is well shot, the puppet work is incredible, and the animatronics are very well constructed. The casting is great with a few nods to the internet personalities that have aided in making FNAF what it is today.
However, the story is an issue that is impossible to ignore. The conflict with the aunt is unnecessary and offers nothing in the way of storytelling. There is no real stakes with this conflict because the audience has no worries that the aunt will actually take Abby away. The sole outcome of this conflict is that Mike accepts the job at the Pizzeria. This conflict is also over very quickly as the aunt is killed and there is no mention of her afterwards. I mean, she died in Mike's house, you'd think there'd be some sort of reaction to that.
Another issue is that Vanessa comes on too strong. She never tries to hide the fact that she knows all about the place but is for whatever reason against telling Mike that her father owns the place. The fact that she knows that her father killed those children, and for whatever reason Mike's brother Garrett, doesn't make sense in the story. It would've been better if she had suspected it and was later proven correct. Overall, the character is strange, unnecessary and only really serves the purpose of telling Mike where things are and the history of the place (while leaving weird details out).
I don't understand why they made it so that Garrett was killed by Afton. Based on the games, I have not seen any evidence that Afton abducted and killed children outside of the Pizzeria. My interpretation could be wrong, but it literally doesn't make sense for him to abduct a random kid at a campground.
There are many other issues with the story, such as the autism coding with Abby (I say this although it is not said outright, but the aunt says she is mentally ill which the principal argues is not true, and the obsession with drawing and difficulty communicating to name a few). This would not be an issue if it were framed differently (and if it wasn't "fixed" at the end of the movie).
Overall, if you are a fan of FNAF you may enjoy seeing the animatronics come to life in film. If you are a movie fan, maybe sit this one out.
