    Michael Bay's back
If you thought Michael Bay only dealt with motor vehicles who come from other planets and can transform into giant robots, then think again. The - not so imaginatively titled - "Ambulance" feels like a throwback to his action films of the 1990s, such as 'Bad Boys' and 'The Rock.' If you enjoyed that era of his output then you will definitely a blast here. This time Bay integrates modern film-making technology with the use of drones, which adds a fresh dimension to the chaos.

Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a standout performance, bringing his usual mix of charm and intensity to his role. His portrayal of Danny Sharp, a career bank robber with a complicated moral compass. It's mainly him who anchors the film amidst the mayhem and his ability to convey desperation, wit, and a touch of madness makes him the most compelling aspect of the movie.

While the film excels in delivering non-stop action, it suffers from an overly generous runtime. At over two hours, the relentless pace begins to feel exhaustive, and certain scenes could have been trimmed to maintain a tighter narrative. This would have ensured that the suspense remains sharp and the storyline more concise.

Another point of contention is the film's approach to violence. In true Bay fashion, "Ambulance" features a barrage of bullets, but their impact often feels inconsequential. Characters repeatedly emerge with holes in pretty vital areas and yet feel like they'll be fine when things should probably have been fatal, which diminishes the stakes and undercuts the sense of danger. This almost cartoonish invulnerability might jar viewers seeking a more grounded action experience.

Overall, "Ambulance" is a decent and wild ride that captures the essence of Michael Bay's early work while incorporating contemporary filmmaking techniques. Jake Gyllenhaal's excellent performance is a highlight, though the film could benefit from a leaner edit and a more realistic depiction of its high-stakes shootouts. Despite its flaws, it's a bombastic spectacle that will satisfy fans of Bay's brand of action.

Loving it, worth a try with family, and complex relationships!
Originally didn't think much of it I picked the movie up for free with a couple others and I thought it was just a simple action movie after the first event but then it gets complex and the brother's motives are different and then how the contrast through the film. I found their varying lives being different even though they were raised under the same roof they gravitated to non crime and how I thought this was going to be a basic shooting no thought behind it movie, the brothers were interesting through their interaction. Theres commentary about their looks and how they dont look like brothers which is good commentary to try make people get exposed to the idea that siblings dont look alike. I like how neither fell for a girl, theres like no kissing scenes or anything like that. Pretty good backround noise or for the family to enjoy together.

    Lets see why?
The movie plot, scenario & script allover worth $30, coming from $10 each, thats the least to start with.

Jake on the other hand came with and act that can be said as the trilogy of John Travolta in Face Off, The Taking of Pelham 123, but that is brought from ebay!

The action scenes are the ones that may deceive you in a trailer but trust me thats the one and only catch that you should make sure that it doesnt allow you to wast 2 hours of your day/night watching this unaccessible work.

You cant rely on actors with good history, experienced crew, good budget to mess with and through here and there and think that you will make a good movie. Unless you have a strong plot and well-written scenario then dont bet on your work.

I wish I'd read the reviews before I started watching this .
Only watched because I saw a reviewer commenting on some good drone shots. They are average.

Film started ok, but then ridiculous bank robbery with no masks and using their real names followed by an over-cooked shoot out at a bank with dozens of cops shooting randomly, as usual in US cop filmd and not many people dying.

Films? How often does an officer say to control 'officer down, I need an ambulance (swear word beginning with F ) now'? And amazing in that huge office complex he finds his shot companion in the basement. And then the most stupid car chase I've ever seen. As I write it's still going on. 30 odd police cars, how many smashed. Numerous helicopters, etc and they can't stop an ambulance? Which is still looking pristine, not even a broken headlight after smashing through countless cars etc.

In the meantime nurse is doing CPR in the back and is about to do abdominal surgery with her surgeon boyfriend talking her through it as she's chucked around in a car chase. I watch a lot of real hospital stuff and surgery is difficult enough in a theatre with several staff, anaethetists, good light etc. This is just stupid. And what I don't understand is as the robbers have no doubt shot and killed a few people why haven't they just dumped or killed the hostages and made they're own way?

On the subject of nursey the film starts with her and new driver attending an RTA. I watch loads of fly on the wall medic programmes. Medics and fire crews are always calm. Speak calmly and quietly get on the job while calmly reassuring the victim. The scene at the RTA was just laughable. At times I wasn't sure if this was actually intended to be a comedy.

Anyway, just over an hour to go and I don't know if I should just quit now.

OK, like a fool I watched it to the even more stupid end scene at a hospital where both shot brothers finally get apprehended. Forget them being stretchered into the hospital, they are left lying there until nursey and the officer who had his partner shot walk Will in for emergency treatment. Beyond ridiculous.

If a 5 yearold who likes ambulances wrote a movie script
I torrented this BS and i still feep ripped off haha.

I understand movies dont have to make complete sense and sometimes there are plot holes but this is just stupidity at its worst.

    Nothing makes sense.

I think all the actors did their best with what story line they have but .. man it's soo ridiculous

How does a 3 ton ambulance out maneuver a mustang ?

Hows a man who ran out of blood last an hours drive around town What ambulance officer couldn't notice a stomach shot wound?

The bank robbery had no plans Why didnt danny just say no to the officer at the bank door ?

If dan has robbed 38 banks before whys he not in prison?

His brother was in the army.. his family would have medical coverage

Its sooo stupid.. I'd suggest getting high ad balls and just enjoy the action :)

Jaw-dropping and not in a good way
Oh ****ing my ****ing ****ing God!

I have seen some ludicrous films in my life. I've seen many Michael Bay films. I have seen many ludicrous Michael Bay films but this....right here is taking the actual p**s.

It all starts off fine and then from the "shooting" it progressively descends into a morally dubious quagmire which turn into a nonsensical **** show.

There is so much that makes no sense. And yeah, I get it, you know it's a Michael Bay film....it's far out there....yeah....but when a film makes less sense than a Transformers movie....questions need to be asked.

To save one life, how many people die to do so?

How, when you've got away from the cops, do they somehow find you?

Where the **** does a dummy driving a car come from?

It's like America is like a free for all goodies versus baddies madhouse where law enforcement has no checks and balances....bad guys are generally Latino wearing beanies (in the height of summer), tattooed up, or saying Papi.....FFS that is the least of this films problem.

I get why Jake Gyllenhall did this (pay day).... I get it....you know why not.....but **** me if this film doesn't win a Razzie.

The action is lame (lots of drone shots) blah blah blah....but it's the logic of the whole escapade....they should put a reassurance text at the start of this film.... NO HUMANS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM.....except the audience and their intelligence.

It's not even a switch your brain off film. Because even in it's switched off mode....your brain is asking basic questions to which the answer is....bang, shoot, kill, destroy, you're my brother, he's a cop, she's purtteeee, good guys, bad guys.....aaaaaaaarrrrrgh.

And here in I submit my mad review of a completely mad (and not in a good way) film.

Save your time and avoid watching this garbage or watch it and see if my review makes sense.

one of the worst action thrillers i've see
Ok, so there's a lot of bad things about this movie. #1 the camera shots, idk what it is with Michael bay and his completely random and annoying unnecessary camera shots swirling around the whole screen that make the movie worse. #2 the scenes in the movie were so incredibly stupid and unrealistic, i get this is an action movie but at some points the ambulance would come out of a bullet parade with no scratches or holes. The cops were incredibly stupid trying to handle the situation as well #3 very unorganized film. In some shots it would be night but then in other it would be day. This movie was dumb.

    Awful from start to finish
Ok. It's a Michael Bay movie. We all know how the are. This was was no exception. It had terrible acting. Ridiculous plot. Over the top unnecessary action scenes that were filmed in split second increments. Run time too long. Characters that were so cliche and dumb. All that goes into about every Michael Bat movie. You know that going in. But you still watch it. Why do we torment ourselves?

I'm an EMT for a fire department so the aspect from an ambulance caught my attention. I won't go in to all what was wrong because that's annoying. I will say this. There is a scene where they have a patient in the back on the ambulance and they have to do this immediate surgery. It was comical. Just pure comedy.

If you are looking for a 2 hour plus adrenaline ride, this may work for you. But please don't expect some interesting plot or some engrossing story. It's not there. Michael Bay, please retire.
