Well, it's definitely a superhero film
I'd heard a lot of bad things about 2022's 'Morbius' and seen more than a few memes online, saying what a terrible film it is. It's a superhero film. I know it's a superhero film because it plays out like someone has written down every core element of the genre and ticked them off one by one.

Jared Leto plays the titular character who is stricken with a rare diseased, leaving him crippled. So he dedicates his life to finding a cure - which he does, only using artificial blood, giving him vampire-like powers. From there, every trope you're familiar with in modern superhero movies is played out. Hero gets powers - check. Bad guy gets almost identical powers - check. Love interest kidnapped - check. CGI fight where you can't really make out what's going on - check. Sequel-bait that's supposed to hook you into a 'shared universe' which doesn't really go anywhere. And so on.

So, it's pretty generic, but some of it's major let-downs are just how little you'll care for Jared Leto's protagonist, Morbius. He's dull and not that interesting, which would be bad enough, if it wasn't for the fact that the villain - Matt 'Dr Who' Smith - is actually quite fun to watch and it's tempting to root for him.

If you like the idea of a vampire meets superhero film then 'Blade' did this three times over twenty years ago and each time was far superior to 'Morbius' (yes, even 'Blade: Trinity' was better!). Plus the 'Blade' trilogy seemed to have better special effects, even two decades ago. The CGI really is laughable in 'Morbius.'

If the whole superhero genre didn't exist until now and 'Morbius' came first, it may actually be considered a classic or a trend-settter. However, with so many other superhero movies to choose from this one is just buried so far down under the weight of a hundred better entries, it's not worth bothering with, because you probably have better in your DVD collection or can find better on a streaming service.

Morbius as the real batman but not well received.
I think the ratings really don't do the film justice.

The film is packed with good scenes, the acting is not bad at all. Cinematic effects are good and some scenes are really horrifying.

Simple plot but good story telling. Although the lab and experiment stuffs can be a bit more realistic, I like how their bat senses is visualised.

Characters' psychology are well portraited. I very much like the contrast between Morbius and Milo, after they turned.

IMHO, I think people were just not prepared to accept Morbius as the real batman, a superhero with real power of bats and a horrifying face.

I really hope I can see Morbius II.

    A good film
I'm not sure why this got slated as much as it did! I really enjoyed it. Yes there are better Marvel films out there but there are much worse ones too! I enjoyed this far more than The Eternals for example which bored me to tears. I also preferred this to Venom but know a lot of people loved that.

I'm not usually a great fan of the Universal films side of Marvel as they don't seem to be great but for me this was done well and I hope that more films will come from it. This has been hinted at with the end credit scenes and I liked what they hinted at so fingers he returns in the Blade movies when they come out.

    Another terrible fanfiction
As someone put it so well: why waste so much money and talent on a poorly written fanfiction adaptation?

Cool effects can't cure lack of logic and terrible storytelling.

Money grabbing studios that end up wasting so much, and still stay in business is crazy. I imagine anyone who actually read and care about the comics are even more frustrated. So many incorent elements, randomly slotted in to confirm all possible clichés makes me sooo angry.

Unnecessary romantic angle, weird violence without cause, illogical sequences and places.

It tries being funny in places, but it's just extremely cringe.

Stop whining and tell a story
    Seriously.

An entire movie about exposition instead of entertainment.

    Who edited this?

    What a total cock up.

Get someone else in to edit the dailies into an entertaining movie.

What a wasted opportunity. You've spent the money, you have the footage, you forgot to engage the audience in a compelling story.

Boo hoo agonise over a really, really basic ethical dilemma for... the entire fracking movie.

More interested in the sequel setup than an engaging story.

Boring, boo hoo agonising over and over. Just tell a fracking story without 2.5 hours of agonising over justification for a non existent antihero.

Give Morbius a purpose other than sooking over his existence. Boring, boring, boring.

    Marvel for the adult viewer
I found this sidestep from the usual teen targeted Marvel movies quite enjoyable. I can understand why the critics were less then generous given the rather loose plot and serious undertones with barely a hint of wit or comedy relief on offer. Jared Leto is splendid but he plays his character rather seriously, likely matching the dark undertones of the movie in general. Michael Morbius has promising chemistry with his love interest but this relationship is not given the attention it needs to add some much needed energy to the overall movie.

I do hope there will be a follow up movie but with a complete overhaul of the writing, less use of cgi and greater reliance of Jared's phenomenal screen presence and acting ability.

I suggest you ignore the bad reviews and give this movie a go. I have seen better Marvel movies, but I have also seen worse Marvel characters in Marvel movies.

Don't waste your precious time. You've got only one life
Don't waste your time on this one. This is soooooooo bad. The script, the acting... What a waste it was to watch this... Didn't even make it to the end... I couldn't... So bad... I think jared can at times be a very good actor... But at other times... He can also be soooooooo incredible bad... Like he was bad as the joker he is bad in this one. The other actor is bad as well.... No wonder it was so fast on Netflix... Totally crap. If you want to see a excellent vampire movie... Then instead go for: 30 days of night. That was a good vampire movie... Heck even...blood red sky, on Netflix as well is a better vampire movie. But this one... What a waste of recourses. Do yourself a favour and skip this one for a better one.

I wish I could give more stars
This is a movie of all time. The most movie of all time prehaps. This movie is so good. I cream and cry when he says "its morbin time". This is cinema at its finest. Morbius starts with the character morbing in costa rica, where Jurassic park takes place. He then gets some vampire bats (the species being Draculingus morbi). We then cut back to greece where Micheal is just a young morbie and meets lucian but gives him the name "Milo". He then says "we are the few agianst the morbies". After he becomes a doctor, dises the king of sweden and puts someone into a coma. Morbius starts his exprienments in international waters. It is then when he morbs some more. I wont spoi the rest, but its morbtastic. No wonder this is the highest grossing movie of all time!
