wenders64 - 8 May 2024 Excellent emotional depth and detail. There's a lot to love about this movie. I only expected to have a ten minute look, I was dead tired- but I was enthralled with the wonderful acting, the charming characters, the setting and the story from the first minute.
Wonderful the glimpse of Paris in this bygone era. The speech and mannerisms of the kind hearted lead, the by street savvy dialog of the Parisian bums to the hushed tones in the Maison de Dior. All the understated beauty. Nobody shouting but the grévistes, no accidents but a tiny fire, there was a moment of self pity and finally the triumphant finale. I really loved this wonderful story.
sararezaieir - 4 December 2023 what I really feel? Well, while watching this movie, I cried at least in 3 scenes. First when at first encounter with the Dior. I just thought that it was real life ever. I just feel it near to myself in the 23 century. Human beings don't chance to respect all people. Next, I found out people of each age live just for their first time and depending on their life they have desires that may be ridiculous by another younger people, and it's not a good reason to dont give people a chance because of their ages you know in age 20-30 all chances is available for all people that they have this age but they do not know how should they do with it. After that when you live as an experienced person you are not in the gold period age! So wins for anybody who lived in period of time and knows what exactly do. And I think its not even fair.
Personally I just remmember my supervior in university and her student which phd candidate. They always act other people as nothing. Respec, kind, Humanitarian , were joke for them. I hate all ot times wich I was forced to work with them. But I Tolerate the conditions, just because of my big dreams. I reviewed all my life moments, which i was really kind to people and helped them. And it is whole my life.
So in conclusion, that movie was inspiring for me that someday I feel I will be a really important person, which I am. On the other hand, I expected that was not just a movie. However I continued my way and I need some help like Mrs. Harri's friend too, and I offer you to watch it if you need some hope.
tinonyasondo - 13 June 2023 Warmth for the heart and soul... I have see this movie in my recommended titles for a while and never felt drawn to it. Today I thought I'd give it a chance and I'm so happy I did.
There's so many things just so likeable about this movie, whether it be Mrs Harris herself, the wonderful community of loved ones she's surrounded by, or the passion and loving kindness she constantly emulates. Everything about this movie warms the soul and makes you believe in the power of following your heart.
Some may think this is a movie just about a dress, but I think it's a lot more. It's about finding happiness in life, just because you can. There's always an an expectation, especially nowadays, for everything we do to have some monetary value or be for a physical, tangible, cause that other people can understand.
But sometimes life is about doing things just because they make you happy, and to me there is so much more value in that.
aloapnasserb - 10 December 2022 If you liked the movie, you'll love the book An unremarkable movie whose main redeeming feature is that it does capture some of the spirit of the original novel -- but the movie is nowhere as good as the delightful book by Paul Gallico.
It is the first in a series of four novels recounting the adventures of the endearing London charwoman Mrs Harris. Here comes the dedication of Mrs 'Arris Goes to Paris: "To the gallant and indispensable daily ladies who, year in, year out, tidy up the British Isles, this book is lovingly dedicated".
"... and for the first time Mrs Harris realised that she was leaving England behind her and was about to enter a foreign country, to be amongst foreign people who spoke a foreign language and who, for all she had ever heard about them, were immoral, grasping, ate snails and frogs, and were particularly inclined to crimes of passion and dismembered bodies in trunks. She was still not afraid, for fear has no place in the vocabulary of the British char, but she was now all the more determined to be on her guard and not stand for any nonsense."
cathyannemoore-66196 - 17 November 2022 Charming feel good film I've knocked a point off because I think there is a flaw in the story Mrs Harris was too old to have had a husband young enough to be a soldier in the war.
That aside. It's a lovely film. Beautiful dresses which are the stars of the show. Happy endings all around (for those that deserve it).
Left the cinema feeling good. There were a few ups and downs along the way as Mrs Harris had some disappointments. Reminds me very much of films from years gone by in that it is a simple almost fairy tale-like story. Lesley Manville is a very good actress who seems to be getting better and better. Recommend if you want a feel good movie.
nataliaiglesias - 1 November 2022 Lovely, Simply Lovely Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris is a beautiful film that brings back the classic nostalgia of what Paris feels like and brings out what it is to be truly wholesome in a classic tale. This film is about an older woman who had been spending her time cleaning houses and suddenly discovers a dress of which allowed her to dream to actually go to Paris and get a dress of her very own. This wholesome story feels almost like a camera man is walking around and filming people simply being themselves. This film is nothing short of a delight, only leaving the viewer wanting a lot more as we seem to simply fall in love with Mrs. Harris!
