I get the complaints, but this is a very solid watch.
I think too many people came into this movie expecting to see something else. This is a very grounded, more realistic style superhero movie. Similar to Unbreakable or Glass or even Watchmen. It may be a bit low budget and a bit predictable but it still tells a very good story and is engaging from start to finish.

Many saw the ending twist coming, but it was still a good one. Turned out that everyone thought Samaritan(good guy) survived the early battle. But in fact, it was Nemesis(bad guy) that lived and Samaritan that died many years ago. I think this is a very enjoyable film for anyone who isn't expecting to to be Marvel or DC(that's actually a good thing to get away from that formula). Enjoy it for what it is; as a smaller scale hero/villain story with a satisfying and interesting plot.

    Fantastic Movie
So many negative reviews for what is an excellent movie. Sure, it has its faults, but I enjoyed every moment of it. If you enjoy Stallone's earlier work in Judge Dredd or Demolition Man then this is just as much fun. The action, violence and language may not make it suitable for young kids, but it was certainly necessary to tell this story. The only way this could have been better would have been to make it more graphically violent and potentially made the story longer to allow more fleshing out of the characters. I have watched this film several times now and still highly recommend it. It may not be the highest level of peak Marvel quality, but it certainly kicks the most recent DC attempts to the curb.

    Bad Samaritan
Samaritan is barely a halfway decent fictional super hero/action thriller. The concept itself had a lot of potential but ultimately there was a lot of missed opportunities to make this a better and more enjoyable movie. The story line was super muddy and all over the place. There really isn't an actual story or rhyme/reason to things randomly happening. The acting was decent enough for what it is but this certainly isn't a great movie. The action was alright but there definitely could have been more of it with much more excitement. It was an okay watch for what it is. Don't expect too much though.

    a decent movie
I'm so glad Sylvester Stallone jumped on the superhero wagon so late. At this point anything outside Marvel Cinematic Universe or DC Universe is a refreshment, not competition.

While watching Samaritan I've had a feeling of watching a 1980s Stallone movie with a superhero component. Without a better word, everything about this movie is decent: The script, the production, the acting... heck, it even has a major plot twist towards the end that wasn't expected.

And when it's over, your intelligence doesn't feel insulted, as after any major superhero flick in the past several decades, although MCU seems to be poised to keep undisputed lead in this areas of competence.

    Worth watching.

    Just so painfully bad.
I can't even begin to describe how truly awful this thing is. For starters, the main character is a kid who can't act. Who builds an entire film on the shoulders of a kid who can't act. Stallone is just...tired. He makes you tired just watching him drag his tired butt from scene to scene. Here's a drinking game-- you have to drink everytime someone calls him "Old Man." You'll be hammered 30 mins in.

There are no 3 dimensional characters. From the first scene, everyone is beat down and angry. Nobody has an ounce of redeeming qualities to make you care who wins and who dies. Things explode, guns and bullets and it's just ugly and loud and joyless and boring. The script is painfully basic. Corny predictable lines about believing in yourself. No clever twists. Just one "surprise" you'll see coming from a mile away.

You have to be pretty desperate for carnage with storyline or characters in order to enjoy a minute of this junk.

Not watching this you lose nothing...
But you lose your time if you do. Definitely not recommended. Stupid, slow, boring, cliche-ridden film.

Except for one final twist this movie is so predictable that you can skip multiple scenes easily and not miss anything valuable.

I can't even spoil this because barely anything happens in it that has any importance and the repeating flashback scenes are just tiresome.

The characters are ALL flat and behave irrationally even in the face of danger. They are also unlikable. The antagonist motivation is unbelievable.

Stallone does his job adequately but clearly this is just another paycheck to him.
