Wish Dragon: A Heartwarming Flight with a Timeless Message
Calling all adventurers, young and old! Buckle up for a magical journey with Wish Dragon, a film that blends humor, heart, and stunning animation to deliver a message that resonates across generations. So, does this tale take flight, or get grounded by predictability? Let's spread our wings and see!

First, let's celebrate the good stuff: The animation is a visual feast, bursting with vibrant colors and imaginative creatures that will captivate viewers of all ages. The story, while familiar - a down-on-his-luck boy stumbles upon a wish-granting dragon - is infused with enough wit and charm to keep things fresh. The voice acting is top-notch, with Jimmy Wong and John Cho bringing warmth and humor to their respective roles. Plus, the film's message about the true value of wishes and the importance of hard work is both timely and touching.

Now, let's land for a reality check: The plot might feel a tad predictable at times, especially for adults. Some jokes might skew younger, and the emotional beats, while effective, don't quite reach tearjerker territory. Additionally, the film's portrayal of certain cultural elements might raise eyebrows for some viewers.

So, should you embark on this fantastical adventure? If you're seeking a delightful family film with stunning visuals, a positive message, and enough humor to keep everyone entertained, then Wish Dragon is definitely worth a watch. Just remember, it's more of a gentle breeze than a hurricane of emotions. But hey, sometimes a heartwarming journey with a lovable dragon is just what the family movie night ordered.

Verdict: 7 out of 10 dragon scales. Wish Dragon is a visually stunning and charming film with a positive message, perfect for a family movie night. Just remember, manage your expectations for emotional depth and embrace the lighthearted adventure! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go find some dumplings - apparently, they're magical wish-granting food in this movie, and who am I to argue with a dragon (or a movie review)?

Look a like asians with normal eyes
Closed the movie after 5 minutes.

No The first and second act are almost exactly like Alladin, beat for beat. The only faintest hint of originality comes in the third act, but at that point you really have to put in effort to keep paying attention.

Not to say it's a knockoff. Some chinese culture was well implemented, but the whole modern spin seemed very superficial.

There is some hint of critisism on modern chinese culture, but the movie doesn't adress these directly, wich is a lost oppertunity.

The only thing directly adressed is materialism, but that isn't really that profound coming from a genie movie.

The animation was really bad, with uninspired character disign and juvinile animations.

The conflict in the story seemed not very well thought out. And character development felt rushed and unimaginative. So the story was not engaging and predictable.

All in all, this is a classic example of how some movies feel like they were made by an algorithm. (thank you tencent)

    Very original Netflix
We all know this is Aladdin but in a different culture, you can't fool us! Instead go watch "Mitchells vs the machines" or "Vivo" instead of this, those are better Sony/Netflix movies.
