robynboyd-50599 - 5 March 2024 Book was way better A review from someone who fully read the book.
I am so disappointed by the movie. It doesn't even come close to how great the book was. The movie left out so many details and changed so many parts of the story line. If they actually followed the book, and how it was supposed to be, it would have been a 10/10 for sure.
They didn't even explain the picture of her sleeping that was emailed to her? And how it was actually Ethan who did it. As well as how Punch's paw got hurt, (also Ethan's doing). Or how Allistair & Jane Russel were covering for Ethan murdering Katie, meanwhile Ethan was putting the blame on his Dad.
It would have enhanced the wow factor at the end, much more.
It just lacked so many details, and fell short unfortunately. It becomes a boring, average movie that I wouldn't want to watch again or recommend.
Save your time with the movie, read the book instead!
jcarteruk - 31 March 2023 Enjoyed this At first I thought oh its a copy of rear window, it's not though only a slight hint of it. The film kept me gript throughout. It also showed that people who have Anxiety etc does not mean they are weak but stronger in a way for things they go through. Also not to react too soon on what is seen of a person. The film has a hint of Rear window film but only the view out the window not the rest of the film. Not that is a bad thing as that was great movie too. The acting was all good etc. So if your looking for a thriller as well as a good storyline then this is for you. Film to sure watch if this is your kind of movie.
cathycritter - 20 October 2022 So bad cannot finish What are Amy Adams and Gary Oldman doing in this piece of crap? It pains me to even make a comparison to that masterpiece Rear Window (and Gaslight), but this movie obviously bears some resemblance- spying on the neighbors, seeing a murder, a character who doesn't leave his/her house, sleuthing to investigate the crime. Amy's character and Jimmy Stewart's character both have professional cameras pointed across the street. But in this movie, the story, the characterizations, the situations ....please. How about the tenant, who in the space of 10 seconds becomes this completely evil character. There's no buildup of suspense there or a slow reveal. I admit I have not finished this and I don't intend to, but no matter what happens, whether he is guilty or innocent of the murder-of course he must be innocent since they are so heavy-handedly implying that he is guilty-they make such a broad, cartoony change from him being just your friendly neighborhood tenant, to this angry parolee, it's ridiculous. Or how about the female police detective, who is also so broadly drawn, as the stock character of the sardonic cop who won't believe the poor person telling the truth. Even in a situation where both cops didn't believe her, I believe it's unrealistic they would be so openly dismissive and demeaning of Amy Adams' character and story. Maybe everyone is just in on some huge plot to get her to go outside the house. Who knows. Who cares. How about the people across the street who keep every window wide open with no shades or blinds. Because everyone in New York City does that, right?? What about video cameras? Couldn't the police at least take a look at that footage from her doorstep? Maybe the woman she thought was Alistair Russell's wife actually did come over. I can only hope before the end of this stupid movie that at least the TV footage idea comes up. Don't watch unless you want to yell at the TV every 5 minutes with frustration.
sunnivariisvoll - 22 June 2022 Me likey It was good, just a bit much mby? Cant really explain it. I likes some of the plot twists, but the last one was a bit weird, altougt i have to say it was surprising.
