    Incredible acting, incredible music
This film is definitely one of the best of 2021, and yet another great testament of this director's ever impressive touch, to say the least.

It is an extremely catchy, yet tragic and heartbreaking affair, very styilized and well done in terms of musical numbers, and writing. The actors all do an incredible job, for sure, as one would expect from such legends - and it stands nicely with West Side Story as one of the greats of 2021, for sure.

The cinematography, cutting and editing is stellar, and very much in line with the director's style. As are the excellent music numbers.

Overall, truly a masterpiece, and ever recommended for any lover of film!

    Beautiful, unique, haunting
One of my all time favorite movies, I will rewatch forever. Thank you to the Sparks brothers, Marion, and Adam for creating such a work of art. If you don't appreciate this movie, watch it until you do.

This is far from a perfect film but is a unique musical with some redeeming elements
Annette (2021) is a movie that my wife and I recently watched on Amazon Prime. The storyline follows a dry standup comedian who marries an opera singer and they have a baby with amazing gifts. When the mother mysteriously dies initially the father is suspected as responsible. As he gets off as not guilty he goes on tour with his daughter but is often surrounded by more violence. How long can the father and daughter function under their circumstances?

This movie is directed by Leos Carax (Bad Blood) and stars Adam Driver (Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens), Marion Cotillard (Inception), Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory), Natalia Lafourcade (Coco) and Devyn McDowell (The Good Nurse).

This storyline is very unique and entertaining. The cast is perfectly selected and Adam Driver delivers a very solid performance. While he isn't "the best singer" his lines and dialogue both in and out of song are entertaining. The CGI for the baby was wild and a bit too over the top. It almost gave the film a horror feel to it. The cinematography is excellent and very well done. I enjoyed the sets throughout the film. The ending has a Les Misérables feel to it in a lot of way.

Overall this is far from a perfect film but is a unique musical with some redeeming elements. I would score this a 7/10 and recommend seeing it once.
