"There's no one on this planet that can stop me"
Black Adam is a 2022 superhero film starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular DC Comics character. The film is a spin-off to Shazam! (2019) and the 11th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). In addition to Johnson, the film stars Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell and Pierce Brosnan.

The film follows an ancient superhuman as he is released from his magic imprisonment by a group of archeologists to free the nation of Kahndaq from the crime syndicate Intergang.

Johnson was attached to Shazam! Early in development and confirmed to portray the villain Black Adam in September 2014, but the producers later decided to give the character his own film. Sztykiel was hired in October 2017. Collet-Serra joined in June 2019 with a planned release date of December 2021, but this timeline was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional casting took place over the next year, including four members of the Justice Society of America, along with the script being rewritten by Haines and Noshirvani. Filming took place from April to August 2021 at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, and also in Los Angeles.

The film received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $393 million worldwide, widely labelled as a box-office bomb after marketing and distribution costs were factored in

One of the last films from the DCEU and not the best. The film is watchable but if rumours are true that Johnson let his ego get in the way this could have been better. The end credit scene is now meaningless with James Gunn set to give DC a reboot.

    Hire some decent writers
Yet another SFX extravaganza. Lots of great CGI but characterisation is weak. Dialogue cliche ridden and seems written by a 15 year old. I guess it's ok as a popcorn film but I soon got bored of the same fight scene over and over. I wish they would spend more time building characters and then go into the action. But I guess audiences have the attention span of a goldfish and can't wait. Trite and predictable. Spend less on the effects and more on writing a decent story with fleshed out characters. Same as every other superhero movie. Please please do something different and give us a superhero film not and at teens.

Black Adam is a movie about a super hero called black Adam that is played by the rock or Dawayne The Rock Johnson and he was great in this movie his acting is great the performance is good to

It had some people speaking Arabic too that I've heard and this movie kinda reminds me of Indiana jones type of thing it's great really

The other actors are great the story is okay the CGI is great too

The story could've been better and the movie could've been better overall but the whole idea of black Adam is fine too it's solid if You like the Rock

Don't understand all the hate on this
I'm not sure why this film is getting hated on. Actually all DC films get hate. Let me start by saying this film has a decent story attached. It also intertwines other DC film characters into the film to give it the Easter egg moments. The Rock does a good job as Black Adam but Pierce Brosnons performance as underrated hero Dr. Fate held the movie together. Plenty of action keep any Super Hero movie goer entertained! Don't listen to the haters- give it a shot - I was pleasantly surprised. Just as I was with other DC projects as Shazam-Doom Patrol-Suicide Squad films and Peacemaker.

    Black Adam will not disappoint.

    Enjoy the show!

    A Fun Romp
I'm confused on what people expected "Black Adam" to be, considering most never knew about the character.

This was a fun movie that did the character justice in a way that normally would be a dark, somber story with lots of flashy deaths. Kudos to the cast for helping bring this to life.

I felt everything went well, except for the fact that ANY of them stood toe-to-toe with Black Adam. Shazam is a piece of the power, while Black Adam is its entirety, just to give reference to how powerful he is. He is also magically based, thus a weakness of Superman's.

This was a fun movie. I want more. It's a shame that people at WB wanted to ruin the Snyderverse simply "because", and the reboot from Gunn and Co is the same. I really wanted to see THIS version of Shazam, Superman, and Black Adam have a go. Now THAT would have been fun to watch!

Black Adam - top of comic books put to big screen movies
At the beginning of this review I wanted to personally say thank you to all the creators of Black Adam who had the guts strong enough to bring this unique character to the screens! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

The second thing to say is that - We - The REAL DC fans - not speak much often online, that's why the Heavy Critic from people who speak maybe too much comes up to the surface - and sometimes it is sad. Here we have usually clash between Marvel action movies and DC drama - Comic Book - movies. Notice that Marvel makes action and not Comic book stories.

Black Adam Rocks as movie + Dr Fate! Nice! Please do more Rock Black Adam movies - the vs Man of steel was really juicy preview!

I wanted to love it but alas
I recently watched this movie on HBOmax, and while it had a good start there were a few things that irked me and made the watching experience ultimately meh.

In the beginning at the cave the bus with Adrianna and Karim was driving away but ended up again at the cave. I mean you see the cave and everything in the back window and yet they somehow end up there again?

The first thing the JSA does is to fight. I mean they first talk a bit, but then it's fighting time. I did not really understand why. Ok, it's an unknown entity, very powerfull, but a causious approach like first finding out what this entity wants surely would be better? The attitude was of the JSA was quite arrogant.

The CGI is not so great. OK, it's really attrocious for 2022! While the looks are OK the movements are off! Annoyingly off. The flying, the jumping, this has to be better. It reminded me of Cat Woman, a movie from 2004. And the running scene in the dwarves cave in LOTR, a movie from 2001. And the fighting scene between Neo and the 100 Agent Smiths from 2003. You get the drift.

And then there's Ishmael as a fiery creature witch Adam cannot defeat by himself. Here's the point: if Adam is supposedly about as strong as Superman than the powers of all known superbeings does not add up, e.g. It would mean that Ishmael is about as powerfull as Darkseid!

Not to forget the unnecessary love story between Atom Smasher and Cyclone (and really, the hair?)

So, all in all it was not more than an enjoyable movie while it could have been more, but like usually WB messed up. The story, the dark/gritty/serious background, the CGI, humor (the MiB? Really?).

Marvel does a better job at this. Don't get me wrong, Marvel also does some (very) stupid things (Love and Thunder? Eternals?) but overall the coherence is better.

I'm glad I didn't pay money to watch it at a cinema.

    Disgraceful
We're really using Kanye songs in movies after all he's doing?

I put on this movie hoping to enjoy a good action film, but the tone-deafness of the music supervisor to allow a Kanye song to be put in such a new film is completely foul. We should not still be giving this "man" any sync royalties in any films after all he's trying to do to ignite hatred in the country.

I hope in 2023 we begin phasing his music out along with him because he is inciting violence and hatred and movies like Black Adam that think it's okay to put his songs in their films are part of the problem. I hope this film gets rereleased with a new song at which point I'd be happy to adjust my review rating.

The Rock should be President, Doctor Fate should be VP
One of my two favorite DC characters was finally in this film, and I cannot emphasize enough how happy this makes me. What's more, it was brilliantly cast to the ineffable Pierce Brosnan in a casting decision so powerful that it could almost eclipse the sheer force of seeing The Rock, finally, for the first time as a superhero onscreen. I can tally the amount of great DC and Marvel films, and DC still comes out ahead with its ability to transcend superhero and create murderous mayhem which is frightening and horrifying to view. The Rock was born to play a superhero, even though there is a lacking number of black superheroes in comic book history. It was smart not to charge him with the immense responsibility of Black Panther, and instead put him as the most powerful yet seemingly corrupt superhero of the DC universe. Doctor Fate on the other hand, is a straight up baller with amazing superpowers unlike anyone else, born in Egypt and played by a white man. The other cast members are multi-cultural which is great. Doctor Fate is like Professor X meets Doctor Strange times ten plus gold. The Rock crushes it with his onscreen presence, even as he grows older in years. Some of his moves like knee jabbing the bad guy and ripping him apart by the horns are moves you could only see done by Dwayne Johnson. Johnson for president.
