    disappointed..
Like any Resident Evil fan I couldn't wait to see the film, I grew up with this game.

But I was disappointed its just a banal zombie film but it integrated Umbrella Corporation and the main characters of the games, But... no Nemesis or again no Mr. X, they took some part of the video games but they were completely modified and I found (sorry for my opinion) that the film had no purpose..

basic in games yes its above all to find a way to get out of Racoon city but also to survive against Nemesis or Mr. X who is chasing you!

So well... some Cheap Jumpscare and missing certain creature and zombie that many would no doubt like to see appear.

Alternative history of the Resident Evil
This movie is a semi-reboot of Resident Evil live action movies. To be honest, the previous live action Resident Evil movies were terrible, even for me, an avid RE fan (except for the first one).

In this installment of RE series, we are on the September 1998 again, with those characters and places. Even thought they have altered many events, details and character appearances for this movie, I think is will be enjoyable for RE video games fans. Unlike the other RE movies, the acting is not terrible and special effects are believable and fresh.

This is by far the best RE live action movie. Better than expected, it does not disappoint, and it is fun to watch.

I'm with the majority here, this is a slap in the face
Like many other reviewers, I grew up on the the game series masterpiece that Resident Evil is. Many of my teenage and adult years have been spent enjoying the games, books, movies, stories, manga, Otakon, and collectibles from this entire series. So as a veteran, avid fan of this series, I can comment on the complete storyline and character development that has progressed since 1996.

The cinematic elements of the lighting and soundtrack of the movie was ultimately the best part of whatever this is. With that being said, this adaptation of the movie truly does miss the mark in quite a few elements. The actors portraying the characters look nothing like the game depicts, but their representation of the characters are way off. I am all about diversity and sometimes stepping off the mainstream plot for a few behind-the-scenes explanations or side stories, but whatever the writer or director were thinking, you didn't do it any favors or justice. Sure, Leon didn't have to have the iconic red hair or Jill's blue eyes and blonde hair, but without everyone saying their names out loud in the movie, I would have never known who the hell they were. And for the movies over the last 15 years introducing characters that weren't included in the game series, you would think that if this was a "real adaptation" of the game, you would at least cast characters that look and dress like the characters they were portraying. Leon is a clueless, push over looking frat boy who magically finds a rocket launcher at the end of the movie and shoots it like a pellet gun and everybody goes home? Wesker has a more caring and nurturing character instead of the spiteful, vindictive character he actually is, Ada is on screen for maybe 3 minutes in an Easter egg and has no interaction with Leon in the entire film. The Ashford twins were shown in a 2 minute clip with no explanation for who they are or their importance in the series. Where was the Tyrant? Mr. X? Barry? Hunk? I just felt like the cast of characters that were cast were just told in a 1 hour Zoom call who they were and thrown on screen as if they have never known any of them from the series.

Second, the plot looks like they took the first 2 beautiful works of art that make the great series it is, threw it in a blender, hit frappe, and spilled it out into a movie that isn't too far off from Sharknado. Some of the scenes in the movies were far different from the games. Some examples are the helicopter crashed into the police station not the Spencer mansion, Claire and Leon met in the Diner not the police station parking garage, and I'm sure I could spend 20 more minutes coming up with others. Wesker shoots Dr. Birkin instead of Hunk, And since when does the Lab at the Spencer mansion and the sewer system from the police station end up on the same train platform to exit the city?

I'm sorry to the die hard fans like myself who were looking for a "real adaptation" as the director said he would deliver, but didn't. To me, he probably played 10 years of Call of Duty like everyone else and not Resident Evil and was in a drunk gaming party one night and was told about the first 2 games and this is what he came up with. I'm truly not a fan.

Where were Leon Kennedy's golden locks?!
This is a late review, and I am trying to remember the strengths of this movie, but I cannot remember anything. As a fan of the games, I understand that they tried to follow a mixture of the two Resident Evil games (RE2 & RE3) but it was horrible! The acting was average, but I was content with Kaya Scodelario acting as Claire Redfield and Robbie Arnell as Chris Redfield (even though I had specific actors in mind for the characters). However, I have to point out that they should have chosen someone who has similar features to Leon Kennedy (a lot of fans, including me, wanted to see the iconic Leon Kennedy hair flip), but maybe I am just too ambitious. I gave it a 3/10 because the movie was a disappointment and overall really bad. The undead from the Resident Evil series (2022) had much more potential and gore than this movie.

    don't get the bad reviews
Huge movie buff and yet I really enjoyed this movie. I'm also a big Resident evil fan, but I hated the other Resident Evil movies from the 2000s as they strayed way too much from the video games and were just ridiculous.

On the other hand this movie had good horror elements, lots of easter eggs for fans and honoured the original games well.

My only complaint is that they should have given the first and second games their own movies, and Birkin talked too much when turning. That and Claire should have had her ponytail :)

Hope the sequel does Code Veronica since that was one of my fave games.

I wish I could vote zero stars
I can't believe these people are getting paid as writers. Everything they added to the already existing storyline has made it worse. I'm sure they could have find far better fan fictions around the internet instead of this piece of garbage.

There are so many unexplainable choices. The biggest issue is: Why would you turn Leon Kennedy into the comic relief? If you want diversity, why would you leave Marvin Branagh out of the equation? Why would Claire, a character with such high ethical values, would be OK with sexual harrasment or hit and run, as long as the trucker gives her a ride? Being a "faithful adaptation" is not building similar sets to the game. Characters are just all over the place. TERRIBLY WRITTEN!

    Absolute trash
First of all, the relationship between Chris and Claire is absolutely off. Second, the Zombies are more like infected. Third, how could you screw up Leon so much? Most badass character in the franchise, absolutely capable of everything, works for and against governments as some sort of special commando unit, can clear a room full of anything in seconds, is played by some Arab? First wtf, and is portrayed as some goofy dumbass who isn't capable of anything. Honestly, it makes me so angry. Absolute trash, but +points for the production value. It's off at some points but overall good effects, atmosphere ...
