    Its....a musical.
Dont know why I'm surprised the movie is a musical. The TV show has a lot of little tunes in it. And more often than not they do a one off for the credit roll.

But oh boy when that first song comes belting out, its purest corn.

They also insist on having the characters kind of floo at you like a corpse on a stick in a simulation of human dancing.

It may sound like I hate musicals. I dont. There are decent ones. With good music and a balance of drama and singing.

    This is none of that.

They do that horrible talk sing thing for most of the songs. When you think of good musicals, you think of stuff like "Hair" where the songs kinda rock on their own. Not just exposition that rhymes.

Really wanted to like this. The animation is very good!

Like if the show is 1080p, this is 4k.

But the badly implemented musical aspect tanks it.

    Lacking and Boring
I have to say that The Bob's Burgers Movie was boring. The storyline from the very beginning was uninteresting. I kept watching the film to see if it would get any better, but it didn't. I was expecting something much better when I chose to watch the film, but it proved to be a huge letdown. The voice acting was acceptable, but the plot was lacking. Also, some of the musical parts were just plain awful. I was surprised to find the film categorized as a comedy because I didn't find anything funny about the film. All I found myself doing throughout the film was checking to see if it was about over. With that in mind, I have to give this film a low rating because it could've been much better.

OK but unnecessary - the show is better
When Louise discovers a body in a sinkhole in front of the restaurant, the family gets involved in a mystery that could lead to the final closure of Bob's Burgers. The movie version of the popular show is fine but, not surprisingly, little effort was made to develop the well-established characters, so anyone not familiar with the TV show may find the film neither engaging nor particularly humourous (Bob talking to food is a long running gag that would be lost on neophytes). The plot is a retread of the season 4 double-episode 'Wharfhorse/The Wharfening', which I thought were funnier and better written than was the movie. There was too much singing, especially at the end, and the dancing cartoon characters quickly got tiresome (especially Grover Fischoeder). Many of the musical interludes in the TV show are fun, clever, and catchy (notably the Bob-Louise duet in 'Glued, where's my Bob') but the film's songs were too long and burned though time that could have been better used to bring in more of the show's plethora of quirky characters (there was too much Grover, too little Marshmallow). The voice talent is as good as always and I doubt that most fans of the show will really dislike the movie incarnation but many, like me, may be a bit disappointed.

    A Nice Snack
    Viewed on Hulu.

Based upon the now long running TV series, this film adaptation sees a sinkhole opening up in front of the Belcher's family burger joint, crippling their business just in time for them to pay off their bank loan debt, and even embroiling them in a cold case murder mystery.

It ultimately feels like a longer, better animated, episode of the TV series, so how you'll feel about it depends on how well you like the show. It's not my favorite animated comedy, but it usually gets a few chuckles out of me & the movie hits the same beats.
