    Needed an Upgrade
There was so much buzz about this film that I was quite hopeful, but it's yet another lazy horror film from Blumhouse. There's nothing original or new here. Just crazy tech run amok. I don't if it wanted to show how bad the tech industry is at product design, but I doubt it.

The film suffers from something that annoys me about modern horror flicks at the moment, namely: everyone is a jerk. Allison William's character, the little girl, the little girl's parents, the tech bro, the neighbor, the cops, the social worker, the camp kid, etc. Are jerks. Everyone is overreacting to the smallest thing. All the characters are too crudely drawn. Put it this way, M3GAN has more emotional range than Allison Williams' character.

The plotting is weak. Too many things are convenience plotted because the filmmakers wanted the movie to hit certain marks. Like the incident with the dog. Animal control would've got involved. There are plotlines that never go anywhere like the police's murder investigation and industrial espionage.

There are issues with logic too. Why make M3GAN super strong? Why not make her with the strength of a 10yr-old. Why overengineer the robot? Why is there no kill switch on M3GAN? M3GAN has an amazing battery pack because she never needed recharging.

I'm happy to enjoy a film and let me take me on a ride, but this was just lazy writing and filmmaking. They wanted a killer robot and they didn't care how they did it.

    The doll we all wanted
M3gan, the protector becomes more sentient and protective of her charge...until, as expected, she goes seriously overboard. Sent to help Cady, a seriously obnoxious, untrained, traumatized child, through a difficult period in her life, M3gan goes beyond what her creator thought she had developed and becomes stubborn, defiant and emboldened. As time progresses, Jemma, the developer tries to maintain control and get ahead of the possibility that M3gan is seriously dangerous and needs to be "fixed" before her launch date, but 4 foot tall M3gan has other ideas about how to deal with the adult's surrounding her.

    Well done, Blumhouse! Quite impressive!
That was much better than I expected. Blumhouse deals the cards when it comes to what ideas to mix and shake when creating a whole-new generation of horror movies, and this one hits the bull's eye, just like Happy Death Day had.

Needless to say, this is basically RoboCop meets The Exorcist with some touches of Chucky and The Terminator.

Yeah... But no, there's a really important and fresh story underneath: How has the digital age been affecting parenthood? Do people understand why screen times need to be put in place? What kind of emotional barriers and supports do kids face today?

The lead actress was impressive. She looks strikingly like Deb from Dexter, though she may be a little bit less or more attractive. Ronnie Chieng worked marvels as the toy company executive and I'd like to invite everyone reading this comment to go watch his spectacular Netflix standup shows! The child actresses did fine as well.

What I didn't enjoy in the story was for the dog to be wasted the way it did. What I particularly liked was for the social services lady to be allowed to lived, against the tradition of butchering up such characters needlessly in such movies.

The ending could have had a bit less action and more mental sparkles, but I understand why they went that way. M3gan telling her soon-to-be victim her evil plan involving "caretaking" sounded like it was actually an alternative ending they though of, and made use of it just like that.

Suspension of disbelief is definitely needed for such stories to be told in an entertaining way. Therefore, we are expected not to ask why on earth anyone would design a TOY with a titanium skeleton potent enough to withstand sci-fi style opponents. Needless to say, such a toy could never be sold in the real world where even the choking hazard from a piece of cloth is put under scrutiny.

I dunno if I'd watch M3gan again, but sure, I'm all on board for a sequel, even though I feel like they have spent whatever could be extracted from the main idea already.

    Embarrassing
I never expect much from modern horror movies aside from some mildly entertaining scares and a fun story. The infamous 'corridor dance' scene shown on the trailer for M3GAN was what got me to gather some friends in the cinema for a laugh and maybe a cheap scare or two. Whilst there weren't any considerable scares in the movie at all, there was no shortage of laughter. Almost all attempts of comedy fell flat on its face, which was made up for in laughable scares and extremely goofy chase scenes. The protagonist 'Gemma' is completely lifeless and unlikeable which stands as a result of poor acting and writing. Any of the audiences attempts to relate or care for her at all are severed by her complete disregard for any of the situations she finds herself in and lack of emotion or empathy portrayed by her character. She doesn't seem to be really bothered at all about the insane s happening, which actually led me to anticipate a twist in which it is revealed that she is in fact a robot as well. The fact that M3GAN herself displays more human characteristics than the main character astounds me. With that said, no-one had a good performance but 'Gemma' was a product of careless writing and acting.

Also -8 points for the water spill drawing scene like what.

    What Walt's Watching
Imagine if Chucky and his Bride created an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Doll with the capabilities of Terminator, RoboCop and Annabelle, but she's only 4 foot tall with the innocent appearance of "Orphan" and meant to be a cute toy/ companion and not just for children who's parents die in a horrific car crash.

The movie opens with a TV ad for Purrpetual Pets which is hilarious and not unlike ads seen in previously mentioned productions.

Then quickly moves on to a secret "Gemma" (Allison Williams) has created in her lab which the boss "David" ( Australia's own Ronny Chieng) sees on the slab.

This of course is the prototype for "M3GAN" otherwise known from her cool acronym "Model 3 Generative Android".

Violet McGraw as "Cady" is one talented tween who's already starred in several horror genre productions.

"M3GAN" herself is a composite of young actor Amie Donald and Jenna Davis.

Hope teenagers are happy because thanks to them and damn TikTok the movie was retooled and the gruesome body count lowered to get a more family friendly rating.

    It's a Horror film!

Even so the body count hit 7, but not all caused by "M3GAN" and not all human, but mostly deserving to die because of their characters actions.

Still there are some imaginative kills for those of us with a gallows sense of humour.

At the root of "M3GAN" is a clever, witty and unnerving horror, sci-fi, thriller screenplay by Akela Cooper from a story by another expat James Wan under the BlumHouse banner.

Listen out for: Martikas' 80's hit "Toy Soldiers" played on a piano and a Johnny Mercer classic in an anachronistic setting.

There's plenty of movie references over the 1 hour 42 minutes of screen time, including "Aliens", a "Die Hard" elevator scene and even "Evil Dead" chainsaw/hedge trimmer action.

A different "Bruce" may even save the day...one with no huge chin.

"M3GAN" could be the start of another successful franchise even though its denouement is quite tidy, however I think industrial espionage could give this movie a carry over championship.

We wil have to wait and see, although judging by a good audience reaction at my preview screening this is the first Horror hit film of 2023.

"M3GAN" is your friend till the end, but friendship has evolved.

So long as we never see a "Killer Doll Justice League" as "M3GAN" joins an ever growing list of the deadliest dolls in movie history as one of the most terrifying, deeply unsettling, creepy toys you've ever seen on the big screen.

One of the worst movies ive seen
This movie was a mess from beginning to end. The best part of the movie was the fake advertisement for the furry dolls in the beginning because it had me thinking it was a real advertisement and that was more scary to me than anything in this movie. They set the movie up with a whole cast of unlikeable characters. I genuinely didnt like a single character i was introduced to, even the secondary characters were awful. The plot was like swiss cheeese. It seemed like this movie took place in a universe where any possible logic didnt exist. M3gan also seemed like a movie that didnt know what it wanted to be it was 1 part comedy 1 part musical and 1 part horror, of which they did all 3 terribly. The movie couldnt be funny to anyone over the age of 6, it wasnt scary in any sense of the word because every killing was setup and done so in such an agonizingly slow pace that you knew what was going to happen 10 minutes before it happened, and i was astounded when the doll started singing it felt like i was having a fever dream aided by an acid trip. I was left wondering what movie i had actually walked in to because a musical was definantly not the movie i had in mind. I watched as people in front of me in the theater spent more time on snapchat than watching the movie and i dont blame them for it. As for myself and my girlfreind i had taken we spent almost an hour talking about how awful the movie was and unpacking the numerous plot holes and parts of the movie that didnt make sense. Save your money. Go home and watch the elf.

She's your friend to the end
After a little girl named name Cady loses her Parent in an accident she goes to live with Her Aunt who is. A robust toy company. With no real idea or notion of parenting. As a way to Meet both her deadline and serve as a means to provide an artificial Guardian without focusing on responsibility. Everything has soon to take drastic. At its core, Megan is more or less your expect in the sense that it; s credible and simple yet still has a charm to it. From its appearance, only one would think of it as just another killer doll movie i.e Child play. While at the end of the day, it is a movie with a killer doll that is not overall what it's about. It is a horror-comedy with a dash of drama in the sense that it has a theme of Materialism and Technology raising children and replacing parenting. Themes that have been shown before, but the movie does a good job of showing the three characters of Cady, Jenna, and Megan. As you spend a fair amount of time with Cady and Megan bonding building up to the point when Megan starts Killing people. It's cute and funny and I would say it's because of Megan. Being A. She is not just the standard emotionless machine She has a personality like Chuckey where she's snarky and keeping the straight face, but the tone of her voice added to her charms. And at the end of the day what want this movie is it has its moments, but overall it doesn't try to take itself seriously. It knows what kind of movie it is and it plays into that. Like the dance scene or when she just starts randomly starts singing. Yet she still comes off as kinda and threatening. While there is killing it's not a slaughter-fest and is cut to meet PG standards, but it's not awful.

Nothing genuinely new here, but still delivers.
The concepts behind M3gan are no genuine ones, but the presentation of these is interesting enough to render it a fun watch nevertheless. The ideas of artificial intelligence going rouge, and deadly dolls, are the two main themes for M3gan. And where other previous horror movies dealing with dolls relied on the supernatural for grounds, Megan follows a more realistic and possible approach by rooting its twists into real life trends, i.e. AI, that go sideways and deviate from thier original purpose. The movie is scary at times and has its moments, but never so much as to be deemed official horror, I believe. It's also never boring start to end, and the casting is successful and serves the tone of the movie right. M3gan's relying on AI as a potential force of complex course could well become a trend for future movies of the sorts; it's similar in that regard to Child's Play of 2019. All in all, a recommended good movie.

M3GAN steals the show in 2023
What a pretty good flick in a very good start in 2023!!! This movie got me scared of M3GAN, right at the start, but I really enjoyed this movie so much! There's nothing better than to watch a Good Guy Doll, and watch him go all berserk in the cinemas. But M3GAN steals the whole entire show!!

Allison Williams from Jordan Peele's Get Out, did an amazing job with her performance, and James Wan and Jason Blum did a great job producing this movie as they have been working together in over 13 years in the making of Blumhouse Productions. And director Gerard Johnstone did he's great work of directing this movie, and it was the perfect choice.

M3GAN is now officially the best horror movie in 2023 and Jenna Davis who played M3GAN did a beautiful job playing her part and she has made a lot of fans love her as M3GAN with an amazing TikTok video of the M3GAN dance going viral! This movie is fun to watch in the cinemas.

    9/10.

GO SEE M3GAN WHAT ARE YOU DOING
M3GAN started the new year off right by Breaking The January Movie Curse. I was expecting this movie to be so good. The Human Characters were alright but everyone was here to see M3GAN it starts off a little hit slow which some people may not like thier horror movies like that but it builds up suspense as the movie progresses and it builds up fast once you get to the kills. Although the movie was originally going to have an R Rating to due to the public attention it was gaining it went to Pg13 which I didn't have that much of a problem with some of the kills were offscreen but at the same time it's up to your imagination to figure out what happened which is just as scary. The Movie definitely needs to be seen in theaters and this is the kill doll movie people have wanted for years and I think M3GAN just became a Horror icon to come.
