An exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean of a daring research team spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.
gtjboyer - 16 June 2024 Enjoyed it but it did not feel the same as the first meg Honestly I felt a bit let down. The CGI in some scenes were poor and it was a bit to stupid for my likings. I do understand that in the book it's based of they keep a meg captive but in the film it just seems stupid. Especially the communication thing one of the characters uses with the meg. One scene that through me off quite a bit was the moment when he swims in the Mariana trench with any sort of protection. What I do like: the entire second half of the film. I like the setting, the octopus attack and the meg. Another part I like is the Mariana trench submarine sequence. And the base at the bottom.
Bigweight66 - 4 May 2024 No bite A few years after the first Meg adventure, some of the old characters are back with a few new characters.
Jonas Taylor (Jason Stratham) is out saving the ocean from nasty polluters. Then Jonas is called into action to go deep into the ocean. Jonas leads a team deep into a trench on the bottom of the ocean floor. While exploring the trench they find out someone is taking valuable minerals from the ocean. They soon learn they have been double crossed! Every now and then a meg shark is spotted, you kind of wonder is this film about megs or not?.
After some close calls Jonas and team end up at a holiday resort island, fighting some baddies that double crossed them. Also the megs come into the film a bit more, with some other nasty creatures from the depths of the ocean.
The story telling in Meg 2 is mostly boring. Its not really worth mentioning any of the other characters as they are bland and forgettable. The first Meg was good fun, Meg 2 lumbers along and is cheesy/tacky.
greenclaire - 1 April 2024 First and foremost a comedy If you want a serious action thriller don't watch this. It is first and foremost a comedy.
I wanted to love it, and then maybe wanted to dislike it but I landed somewhere in between. It's fundamentally entertaining watchable nonsense.
Expect dramatic stunts by Jason S. Plenty of impressive graphics and a ridiculous plot which ignores science and logic in its entirety.
But fundamentally it's good fun. Embrace the ambition of the film which appears to be impressive stunts and comedy and you'll get along fine with it. My husband and I giggled and laughed throughout, occasionally picking it apart and poking holes in it but all in good humour.
